Idk who said it was “too soon” to hear Sleep Token. They could easily be regarded as a “gateway drug” that gets non-metal people initially hooked on metal. If anything you should’ve listened to them earlier. The same could be said about bands like Bad Omens, Spiritbox, or any of the artists within the “Baddiecore” subgenre.

Amazing band, but not a good song. Their newest album is phenomenal, start to finish. Some of their older stuff is decent, but nowhere near the same level. Hopefully you give them another chance, and jump into something from Take me to back to Eden.

Their first ep has a hauntingly beautiful sound to it but is very different to what they evolved into. Their albums, especially the latest, are rooted in metal & rock, but bring in R&B, soul, funk, jazz, pop/hip-pop, and electronic elements. They have a bunch of different lanes that they go in and basically made their own genre out of it that’s really hard to describe. I highly recommend you check out the Take Me Back To Eden album! Every song is a fucking masterpiece, and the genre switching & blending is crazy in that album. The Summoning is what blew them up on Tiktok last year. I would recommend Granite, Ascensionism, and Take Me Back To Eden for you since you’re a rap fan.
