Ok, so the grounding exercise is painful as a lifelong meditator and mental health coach. She is having you go through WAY too much. Its so much easier when doing a body scan, to scan from the top of the head down, identifying just a few sensations as you go down. And the color room thing, again its way too much pressure. "Identify something around you that is nice to look at", or 'see if you can count the number of pillows, and take that many deep breaths'.

People assuming your sexuality is so annoying. My friends in college apparently talked about how I might be gay. I'm bisexual/graysexual, but I didn't know that yet in college. Probably because of the graysexual part. But the fact that they would even like wonder about that is just so annoying to me. I'm just me, just let me be me. I can't imagine what it's like to be famous and have people just talk about it all the time.

mid bonus episode this week, i agree with qt that you guys need topics beyond talking about what you did this week and what youre doing next week. your chemistry is good but thats only useful for making any topic interesting, it doesnt really create topics out of thin air. easiest topic generator is to answer questions from the audience. the questions are best when they arent restricted just let people ask whatever they want and then get your producer to curate them/do it yourself. good example is that one chatter that asked about female friends, i was interested for the entire 30+ minutes you talked about it even though your advice was kinda ass. pull together as many topics as you can, go through them until you dont have anything you want to talk about anymore, and then fill the rest of the time with audience questions. thats how linus tech tips podcast works, he's pushing 40 with a wife and 3 kids and he still goes on wan show for 4-5 hours once per week and im entertained the whole time also im a $5 tier subscriber and im curious about the trash tv episodes, could you release one of them for free or for the $5 tier so we know what theyre like? i might upgrade to keep watching them. thanks and keep being awesome after a while i think my comment could be misinterpreted as me asking for more structure or segments to the podcast. i think it should stay the same, where its just one long conversation between two friends, but i think you guys need to have some topics in your back pockets or a pool of topics to lean on if theres ever a lull in the conversation like i kinda felt was there in todays episode.

wan show is a chatting podcast mostly. they dont have any segments, they just have a google doc with topics they might bring up and they write down topics throughout the week (i think they have a writer now actually). theyre actually very similar in how its just two friends talking about stuff for a few hours. wan show does talk about current events, but its a lot of stuff going on at the company rather than tech news, which they have like 10 different channels for and definitely dont need a podcast for. its mostly just two friends talking about stuff and giving opinions about random topics, which is really similar to wine about it. also theyve said a few times that they watch other podcasts to learn from them. i cant imagine theyd sit through a 4 hour tech podcast to find out whats good about it, so theres a pretty good chance they havent heard this before. sorry to the girls if my criticism was rude, i just want wine about it to thrive about it and i thought it was topical criticism since they discussed how they need topics a few times in the podcast, but also said that we dont care about topics and just want background noise. im just saying i liked the style of the older episodes when they would plan stuff out and save things they want to talk about for the podcast

the only thing i like about AI is how DougDoug uses it. the absurdity of the things it says it what makes it funny. but on the question of topics, i agree with Maya. i'd listen to you guys talk about absolutely nothing. i really don't think y'all need more than a few topics. y'all are good at branching off and making it feel like just a normal conversation, not like you had a specific topic you needed to talk about.

Just wanna say try not to worry about the break (real easy i know :/) but I think a lot of your subs who were subbed before will completely understand you needing a break. I'm personally happy to see you take care of yourself, for someone who has to deal with a littany of problems you're unbelievable accomplished and hard working, I honestly think you should try to schedule a little holiday (not an event you plan) regularly you absolutely deserve it. Also another fantastic episode this week, also nice to see that the things you're trying like the book club are working so well.

I honestly love the bonus episodes a ton. I do feel like you two find a good “chemistry” or vibe after the main episode, and it just feels like two good friends talking. (That said the main episodes are great too! I like both) I don’t need an itinerary or super structured podcast. I’m just here to enjoy listening to a conversation.

Regarding the streams being worth 25 cents, I think not all streams are made equal. The best example of this imo is Jerma, my favorite streamer. Some of his streams are genuinely worth like $50 to me and at the end of others it feels like he owes me money. Once I feel like I am not getting my money's worth from a streamer anymore, I unsub. QT and Jerma are the only 2 people I am still subbed to.

I’ve worked in podcasting for a few years now so forgive me for nerding out on the topic, I actually think the Yards strength is there ability to sound more like a conversation that you’re being an observer of and less forcefully topics and segments that remind you as a listener that it’s a podcast. It’s more fly on the wall and less third party narrated feel, supported by the set giving us this narrative venue for a conversation to naturally be happening etc. But I would say that y’all have that same conversational feel and a different type of third wall break where you speak directly to an audience and acknowledge their participation in your conversation as an observer. Not to just sound like a psychoanalyst but I think that changes how the episodes are perceived/are recorded. The yard is having a conversation and we aren’t a part of it and if they acknowledge we are “there” it’s a rare moment but it doesn’t really invite the audience into that conversation as a participant. Wine about it is a conversation we are present for and can’t participate in actively but passively and we are being acknowledged as this non active participant to the conversation more. But both shows are more uniquely conversational and less so topics and segments, which as someone who sold shows is literally the biggest difference. In comparison to say fear& is more like a traditional show that is happening that we are the audience of because it has a larger sense of structure driving it and often acknowledges that structure rather than moving through it as if you were just talking to one another. I think the conversational style that is engaging though is what makes a good podcast and y’all literally talked about not making friends for an hour and it was enthralling so you more than have it same as the yard. The yard guys can banter about nonsense but maya is so right that y’all’s ability to talk at length in a way that feels honest and engaging at the same time is a massively valuable skill set.

Yeah it's crazy how much chatgpt gets outright wrong. I TAed for a systematics and phylogenetics class and for their research paper, a student asked chatgpt to give them ten peer-reviewed articles about their topic. Turns out, when you ask chatgpt to give you research papers, it just MAKES THEM UP. So the articles didn't even exist! Safe to say the student got a zero on their paper. But that's so scary for misinformation

I honestly don't mind the listening to the ramblings of QT and Maya! I think structured content can get boring honestly, but whatever you guys end up doing I know I'll watch regardless. Enjoy your much deserved break QT, without exposing my identity the world of streaming did a number on my mental health and I had a fraction of your fame. Probably not welcome advice, but have you (Qt) thought about not streaming anymore and just doing the podcasts and maybe events? Sounds like you already have basically a full time job even when taking a break. Or join the darkside and be a YouTuber rather than a streamer. Maya correct. Topics are fun but the enjoyment isn’t reliant on a topic it’s on the chemistry of the two of you talking. The dynamic will always create more entertainment than a specific subject.

that happened to me. I got them consistently for a year and they thinned my eye lashes (partially my fault for itching my eyes/I sleep on my side which isn't great for them). Took about 7-8 months for my natural lashes to return to how they were before. If you're pretty careful with them and don't tend to have any picking habits then I've heard good things but they were just a little too high maintenance for me. I much prefer strips these days.
