Hi guys!!

Here's a little break down of this piece I did back on 2018 I think, that I still like very much and that until this day, it's the most stolen, reposted and traced of ALL my work. So I guess it has something special. I wanted to break it down also for myself, to try to remember what I did to achieve that look and that much texture, because I think it looks nice.

So by looking at the layers, the trick was clearly on painting a lot and render a lot, I didn't use many layer modes or special tricks. I think I used an Overlay mode layer with a very light turquoise for the water glow, but besides that, I played around with lots and lots of different brushes to add noise and texture.

I'd LOVE to remember and tell you which brushes I used exactly but that would be impossible lol, I do know that the brushes should be included on that big PSD brush pack I shared with you a couple of weeks ago, so you should have them.

You'll notice a slightly difference in the colors of the final illustration, to do that I use the Selective Color tool on Photoshop, (Image- Adjustments- Selective color) which let's you manipulate and change colors one by one, all the blues, all the reds, etc.

I love it so much and I use it in almost everything I do, specially when a painting is done and I want to add some interesting color variations. There's no rule about how to use it, just play around and see what fits better for your drawing, it's really a personal taste. You can make reds brighter, or turn blues more greenish, make your yellows more warm or cold, make blacks darker or lighter etc. It's very subtle and it always looks very nice!

I've been drawing a lot on my sketchbook recently so I'll post those pages soon :)

Stay safe 💖
