Yesterday on stream I showed off a brief look at my attempts to make a map with a woodburning tool. I went over a few basic tries, and some of the difficulties of making maps using this technique but after a day of burning my own hand with a hot pen thing I finally finished a small test map!

In addition to the using the tool for about 6-8 hours and burning my hand twice, this is a really really slow process, I have to go over most of the lines three times to get a nice line and even then I’m so annoyed by some of the simple mistakes. In part because of the wood I was using which was a rough birch and had some horrible grain lines but also I suppose because I wasn't used to the tool itself.

Either way overall this is a pretty nice little piece but I will only do more if I have time to spare (hahaha). It also leaves me with the question of what to do with it now as a physical piece isn't very useful necessarily to all of my awesome patrons. So instead I made this post a poll to see what people would like to see me do with it!

Thanks all for reading!

Oh! I will talk about the poll results this sunday on stream! :D

Quick note, if you do decide to make more of these and want to explore color I'd use watercolors. They bring out the natural grain a bit but soak in and come out really nice, and blending is easy.
