In a few previous posts and on stream I’ve talked about my goals and ambitions for my patreon and for my maps going forwards. Today I’m just going to talk about some of these in a little more detail and if anyone has any feedback or thoughts on them, leave a comment or come and chat to me about it in my discord!

A few months back, I actually removed a few goals from my patreon sidebar because I felt like for the most part, those goals were time based. Or in other words they were things that would end up happening regardless of the amount I reached here on patreon, they just might take a while to get done. A great example of that, was a website with all my maps on instead of patreon, so you could filter through my maps and find things a lot easier. I managed to get that published about a month ago and if you haven't seen it yet there's a link to the website below!

However as I keep working on maps and other projects I’ve had a few people ask about what I’m going to be doing in the future and having goals up on my patreon might be a good way to let people know what I'm working towards.

These goals are not related to individual maps or project ideas like dungeon maps or geomorphs, or even that elusive kraken map! They are instead goals for me personally and reaching them will allow me to do things I couldn't before :)

$750 a Month: Video Tutorials.

This is by far, the thing people ask about the most when it comes to my mapmaking. Although I feel streaming and talking about my process has helped people try to do things on their own. A series of videos on youtube, starting from the beginning and going through step by step every feature of a world map, region map, battlemap or village/city map is a very worthwhile goal to try and aim towards and would help a lot more people copy and practice my style of mapmaking. This is also within reach in terms of new patrons and income and it might only take a few months before we get there!

$1200 a month: Bigger is better!

This is the amount I would need in order to improve every aspect of my mapmaking process, this means a tablet with a screen, a larger scanner in order to do bigger and more detailed hand drawn maps and even a new computer to handle larger files in photoshop! This goal is a little far off and considering its about double what I’m currently on right now on patreon I predict about 6-10 months before I get to this point.

$2000 a month: That’s all folks!

This is the amount I think I would need on patreon to stop taking commissions and just make content for patrons. I might still take a few projects here and there depending on the time I have free and who was asking. But in general this amount is a figure that would allow me to survive and live without too much worry about finances anymore. I would not need to take commissions each month to top up my income and therefore would be able to make more content for you guys! This might seem like a large amount to some but compared to many full time incomes it's not a huge number to reach over the next few years so this would be dream come true for me. It might take a year or two to get here but one day I hope to reach it :)

There are always plenty of maps and other things I want to try and do as time goes by. Things like regional geomorph sets so you can create your own world maps, massive creature/map hybrid pieces, much much bigger A2 or even A1 size maps, my hexworld system chugging away in the background etc but I’ll talk about those in more detail at some other point!

As always, thanks all for reading! <3
