POLL: Do you play AVNs?

  • Until today, I had no idea A, V, and N could form such an abbreviation. Or I've never played one. 2
  • I've played VNs but not AVNs (and I'll post a comment listing my favorites (please)) 1
  • I've played AVNs and perhaps some VNs (and I'll post a comment listing my favorites (please)) 0
  • Please don't waste your time making an AVN (and I might post why in the comments) 0
  • When will your AVN come out? Can I beta test it? (and I'll post in the comments not to feel left out) 3

Adult Visual Novels are a subgenre of the Visual Novel genre of video games. VNs are basically the video game equivalent of those old Choose Your Own Adventure books. VNs are the children of Text Adventure games. AVNs are VNs that include adult content: usually pornographic depictions of sex and sexual situations. The budgets for an AVN can be quite high since players are use to full motion video in normal video games.

I'm quite addicted to VNs and AVNs and even Adult games in general (aka games with adult content that have more game elements than implied by the term Visual Novel). And have thought about writing one. The obvious problem for me being I don't make art. And that is frankly the important part about a VN.

There are many subgenres of AVN, like there are many subgenres of both fiction and porn. There aren't a lot transformation or inanimate AVNs certainly. But as we all know that is such a niche market and as mentioned above, where would the budget for artwork come from?

Poll opens to non-patrons March 18.

Sorry, DK, I accidently deleted your reply. You mentioned Mice Tea. I hadn't seen that before. I'll have to check it out. I'm not really excited though as furry stuff isn't my thing. I was thinking about an adaption of Jane and Emily stories from the Ted's Dolls universe might make a good AVN.

Fair enough. It's the first AVN that came to mind that's also transformation-themed. (Note, I haven't played it, but I'm tempted to.) I suspect you could find several ASFR ones if you chose to look as well. I think the Mice Tea team has worked with various artists to illustrate branches of the story. So even if it's not your cup of tea, the team might be willing to give pointers on how to make it all work.

Never played VNs, but have watched letsplays of some. And I'm familiar with famous VNs like Fate (which does have adult versions too)
