This was my first time watching this episode, or any Sunmi-hosted episode for that matter (just came back from holiday to Korea so i have a lot of catching up to do). Sunmi is very likeable and respected so i knew she'd do fine. She is such a mom though: always taking care of her guests, showing compassion, always trying to be positive, no profanities, being a good Christian, etc. It is quite different from Jessi of course, but as long as she has interesting / informal / non-scripted conversations then I'm all for it. It would be nice though if she were able to throw a few "edgy" remarks or questions in there, you know, some spice, but I don't think it's gonna happen. The Hyorin/Hyolin is another language thing. In Korean the r/l are the same letter ㄹ. If you pronounce an "r" and take note of the position of your tongue then it's curled upwards and towards the back right? If you pronounce the "l" the tongue is at the front just behind your front teeth. The ㄹ is with your tongue in the middle of those 2 positions.

- Yes, Hyorin is technically the „correct“ way to write 효린 in the Latin alphabet, at least if we go by the current standard romanisation system. „Hyolyn“ is stylised. There is no real equivalent to L and R in the Korean alphabet, there is only ㄹ which is kinda both but also neither. Usually it gets romanised as R when at the beginning of a syllable and as L when at the end of the syllable. But names often don't follow the „rules“ (they're more of a suggestion anyway). This is also why we get 청하 written as Chung Ha instead of Cheongha or indeed 선미 as Sunmi instead of Seonmi which would both technically be more „correct“. - Damn, even Sunmi is complaining about Mnet's camerawork. - On that Like That title, that reminds me of CLC who have a total of four songs that are called „Like“, „I Like It“, „Like That“, and „Like It“ respecively. They must have really liked something a lot. - Sunmi's version of this show does feel a bit more „produced“ if you know what I mean? - Last meal? That's a tough one but probably something that reminds me of home, like a good proper Wiener Schnitzel. While I never lived in Vienna or anywhere in Austria, Bavaria is pretty close and I've had a lot of Schnitzel growing up there. Just don't do the German thing of putting sauce on it! - I've never had deep dish pizza and all I can think about is Jon Stewart's rant about deep dish pizza. „Deep dish pizza is not only not better than New York pizza, it's not pizza. It's a fucking casserole“ - My favourite verse from the only bible that matters to me: „One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.“ - Damn, it's kinda messed up that you have to trick your managers like that in order to be „allowed“ to not be malnourished and underweight. - The time limit is kinda true though. EVERYTHING takes practice if you want to master it. It feels dismissive not to acknowledge that. - I like this! Obviously very different to Jessi's Showterview but that's not inherently a bad thing. The only thing I don't get is why they keep talking about how this is supposedly a „global“ talkshow. Both the host and probably the vast majority of the guests are gonna be Korean. Yes, Sunmi does speak English but even the interview with USA-born Alexa was all in Korean.
