For people who just want tums, no need to read this one. But if you're vaguely curious about my current thoughts and processed in regards to Project Vessel and future works, read up!

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

One of the main goals with starting Project Vessel was to be able to incorporate my usual animation scenes in a game format. While I have done that with Project Vessel's latest update, I'm unsure as to how viable and stable that approach is. Can my software handle a game with multiple unconnected levels or would it begin to freak out and become impossible to play? I fear the latter. ;__;

To test it properly, I would have to start a new project as Vessel is too messy. I tried to do too many things and have them all work in tandem with each other, instead of focusing on one thing (or set of things) and sticking to those things. While I don't like the idea of leaving Vessel behind, the response hasn't been that strong to it so I doubt people will mind if I move onto something else.

To enable longer games, some kind of password / save system would be mandatory. I was erring towards passwords, until I found a post on the Wick Editor forums talking about using local storage to save data. After many days of testing, I can say it 100% works for me, but I don't know how well it will work on other devices / browsers. If it does work for most people who play, then at least I have a save system I can use should I make longer projects in the future. So far, only automatic saves are possible, but we'll see if manual saves can become a thing.

So what game project will I try next? Something much shorter, with actual game mechanics, and multiple levels if it works properly. Maybe a simple platformer, something like that. This time, knowing what I know now, I can make the project tidier than Vessel, and therefore less likely to break into pieces when anyone plays it. Will I return to Project Vessel? Maybe. But if no one asks for it, I'll take that as a hint to just move on to other green, less buggier pastures XD

Once I've made a few shorter games, I'll try again with a longer game, an RPG or something other genre. Whatever comes next, I'll make sure to plan it more thoroughly. With the save system, perhaps I can do super long expansions that take hours to complete? Log out and come back to the same size tum later? Ah, but recording the video for that one will be hell lol

If you read this far, I hope you enjoyed my ramblings. If you have any specific questions, leave 'em in the comments. Otherwise, TTFN!
