Minus one has nothing to do with the monsterverse Godzilla and besides some movies Kong and Godzilla are separate franchises so their almost never together. And it's Minus One because after the nukes Japan was like "well it can't get any worse than this" starting over at step zero. Then Godzilla comes around and apparently took offense and set them back a step further. Minus one or negative one.

Great reaction! I loved watching you two struggle not to cry as the final scenes kept hitting those emotional beats. I love this film. This was the first film I watched in the theater multiple times in a LONG time. BTW, I highly recommend watching Godzilla -1.0/C. They did more than just desaturate the color and it hits different in black and white. I also recommend the original 1953(4?) film. More than any other (with Shin following a bit behind) these two films are about so much more than Godzilla, and he serves as a metaphor in that larger story. I do appreciate the fun films but these hold a special place in my heart. Every time I hear the strings and softly soaring horns of the fighter jet anthem, I get all choked up. It’s just so plaintive and hopeful and beautiful. The black stain spreading up Noriko’s neck in the last scene may hint at how she survived. It’s left ambiguous but there may be a connection. I would not be surprised if it was left unexplored and I’m ok with that.
