According to Vimeo “this video does not exist” lol is this on my end?

However the “audio only” version works perfectly

subbrief

I changed some Vimeo settings. Refresh you browser (F5) and the video should play.

Another home run Aaron! Modern day China seems like the 70s and 80s USSR. 😸 The nukes probably work well and are quite sizable, but the boats they're in are built by kids and they're held together by bubblegum and string. Good luck actually using those nukes before a NATO SSN blows them outta the water upon getting a VLF bulletin and/or hearing the silo doors open. 💥

Thanks Aaron. I especially appreciate the more in-depth explanation of the shipbuilding process and detailed imagery of the shipyard itself. Your visual production skills are getting quite good!

10:00 Are those flank sonar arrays?

I laughed out loud when you suggested China should ask for a refund. One of the stereotypes about Russia is that it’s impossible to get a refund for anything. Not as true now as it used to be, but still. Seriously though, is it possible the Russian tech transfer did not include propulsion components? Seems a reasonable guess.

Kaede Ayamine

it probably depends on the country, Russians did lend an Akula to Indians, something China would probably be very happy if they get their hands on

I suspect strapping flank arrays on a boat doing 120db isn't going to help much.

Russia: "For sale is a nuclear submarine! Just sign on the dotted line here." China: "Ooo! Sign me up!" Russia: "Here you go!" China: "Wait, where is the reactor?!" Russia: "We said submarine. Reactor sold separately." China: 🤨 China: "I want a refund!" Russia: "One moment please. Dial Tone. "We are currently helping another customer, we appreciate your business and will be with you shortly." Elevator music... Dial Tone. "We are currently helping another customer, we appreciate your business and will be with you shortly." Elevator music... Dial Tone. As always- another great sub brief

Great brief. I was wondering, if it's not a huge bother, would it be possible to add either lat/longs or a google maps link to each of the bases you discuss in the comments for these? It's fascinating to have a look at public sat images whilst you're talking about the bases, but sometimes finding them's a challenge with different translations of the placenames, etc.

Btw, if you ever want to look up classified technologies search the following patent families: B63G 1/00, F41F 1/00, H04K 1/00, B64C2201/22

Great lecture! I also love the sense of humor using a hazy picture of hull 420. Really goes along well with the naval design bureau that has an abbreviation CSIC that could be pronounced as 'sea sick'
