Jive, do you know the thought process of placing the CIC in the superstructure, rather than in a less vulnerable position such as below the waterline? It's going to get shot up, no? We have the bridge up there already. On a submarine, isn't the CIC the main combat portion and the bridge is, like, tiny in comparison?

The 'bridge' for an American submarine is only used while surface transiting because it's in the sail. A free flood area. The control room is in the main part of the sub and the 'Conn' is the very small part around the Periscopes.
