All Future Submarine Project subs will be built here.  They are designated Attack-class.

I made a lot of progress on the Sub Brief over the weekend.  The main outline is finished. I am just filling the gaps and fact checking.  This will be a slightly different 'Sub Brief' than normal because we are in the Design Phase. No construction has taken place yet and most of the Design details are secret.... so,  it's how not to buy a submarine.

Anyway... I digress.  Because of the political nature of this topic, my report is just the facts with no opinion.  I'll let you  tell me your opinion if you want, but you wont know mine.

I expect the Barracuda Shortfin Sub Brief to be out soon.

Really looking forward to this one Aaron! I'm not looking forward to paying for these submarines though :(

Would you consider moving to Australia contributing some tax to help pay for one?

I just hope we have less issues with these than we did with the Collins. Should have just gone with the proven platform of the 688s we had as an option... 🤷‍♂️ Edit: as someone mentioned, but the comment is gone, our Navy didn’t want the nuke boats, for the most part. Even though we’ve got a lot of deep water surrounding us, they still do a lot of littoral work and we have no experience with them. As well as needing a larger crew, much like us not getting Arleigh Burkes, and going with what became our Hobart Class.

Looking forward to this one. One thing that strikes me is the eye watering costs for these "conventional" boats. If my reading of the finances is correct the Attack class will be more expensive per boat than the UK RNs Astute class nuclear boats, which weren't exactly "cheap" to start with!

"how not to buy a submarine" ...the intrigue! Anyway, sounds like how I get into any project, ha ha. Make every wrong decision first before stumbling upon the right way.

It’s not that the Navy doesn’t want nuclear boats, it’s the fact that we do not have the support or training industry to support a nuclear force. Unless the US or UK were to provide nuclear technology, training and support we would be unable to sustain any sized fleet of 688s. The topic of nuclear was brought up repeatedly at the recent SIA conference and it always comes back to the industrial capability and having one research reactor at Lucas Heights just won’t cut it
