Thanks again Jive, great info as usual. That missile deck would be great to cannonball off of if you could clear the hull

CPSU = Communist Party of the Soviet Union?

Anonymous

Yep, that's correct. In Russian it was KPSS - Коммунистическая партия Советского Союза.

Is the video file or upload different to the Delta III video ? I can’t tilt this one to fill the screen of my phone, but I could with the Delta III video.

That's just Vimeo being terrible. We really ought to get Aaron onto floatplane...

Yes please! The Patreon Vimeo interface suuucks (the content rules though)

Awesome! I am actually not really surprised its their quietest nuke boat. I've heard that our Ohio class boats are our quietest boats, with the Los Angeles not far behind it. I am not sure how that plays out with the newer classes. Though I've heard (I don't remember where) the Seawolf was not quiet when it first came out/had a bunch of initial problems, though I can't find anything about that. The delta series is outstanding Aaron! Thank you for your effort on these! They are super quality content!

I don't see anything wrong with the interface, except for the tilting issue. I also think that it is unrelated to Patreon. Something I noticed: when I tap the Delta III Video I stay on the Patreon App and the tilting works, when I tap the Delta IV Video I end up on Vimeo in the browser and I cannot tilt the video. Probably something in the way Aaron put the vid on here.

The odds of two submarines colliding in open waters seems so astronomical and yet I keep reading about sub collision events. Is there an explanation of why these accidents occur? Tailgating?

Anonymous

Exactly. Us spying on them, trailing them around trying to record their sounds and take underwater pictures of there screw and hull. And them trying to do the same to us. Imagine this: only two cars in a whole city, pretty hard for them to hit each other right? Now imagine those two cars are interested in each other, or are trying to defend their parking garage from the other car getting close and taking pictures of it. Suddenly there will be a lot more interaction and risk for collision between the cars than if they were just minding their own business going from point a to b. Ramp up the likely hood even more if they are trying to follow each other around and take pictures of each other, and you try to shake them off cause you don't like them behind you. Now imagine you can't see cause your under water in a steel tube, and they are trying not to be seen and you are trying not to be seen as well, but your still trying to do your mission of following, taking pictures of everything, etc, etc, and so are they. Suddenly there is a very high risk of collisions.

Some ports can have very narrow lanes for boats of this tonnage. Submarines have pretty poor visibility and are very hard to see in inclement weather or at all.
