Thanks once again Jive for all your hard work and great little insights.. BTW...I got the best navy in the world, I just don't make enough money to buy all the baking soda to fuel them...

Funny thing i noticed, the cyrilic banner on the pier side connecting to the Akula , beside the K-506 at minute 1:01:30 says "NARVAL" xD XD

That second K-490 photo, are those just missile tubes floating in the water?!?!?

You probably already know this, but the collision of K-211 was with the British HMS-Spectre (S104), not an American boat. Somehow the Captain and the Crew of the British sub managed to keep the cause of the damage to their boat a secret until 1991.

Glad to re-sub to sub brief. Was a long time fan of your Jive channel, and was a member of the patreon previously until rona happened and work got tight. It now just seems to have matured into what you have always wanted to do. Thanks Aaron!

Cool! My father's best friend served on K-449 from 1990 to 1993. Told a lot of stories about it, especially about challenging transition from Northern Fleet to Pacific Fleet. We still meet with them and some of his crew once every few years. Love to listen to their stories about that turbulent time. How they almost had a mutiny and threw their issued dirks into the cabin of the political officer. They sang songs, read poems, even had a small VCR movie theater onboard.

I thought K-129 was the Golf-class that sadly sank in the Pacific and was later partly recovered by Project Azorian. Did the Soviets reuse the designation after he was lost?
