no one ever told me this about the one piece journey but this show is like super funny at times and I love it

--In the manga, a manji (卍) was behind the skull on Ace's back instead of a cross, before being eventually retconned. The anime used the cross from the beginning in order to avoid confusion with a modern swastika, also known as the Hakenkreuz (卐). Just for Info: Luffy set out in the jouney when he was 17. Ace 3 years before that when Luffy was 14. So that was many years after the incident with Shanks :)
