Chapter 4

Matt finally had the chance to go back home and fall asleep. And he slept, and slept…

The early morning was gone, then, morning was gone. Before he knew it, it was noon. He was sleeping tight, maybe not in the most comfortable position, but the body often moves wherever it wants when you´re asleep.

To wake up at a certain hour is easy once you make it a habit. But when you change your schedule, well… Matt was suffering the consequences right now. Usually, things work on different ways, when you don´t get enough sleep, you can either just lose the sleep hours, or oversleep the next time.

Matt was oversleeping right now. Instead of a regular 7-8 hour sleep, he went for a, very interrupted, 10 hour sleep. He managed to get back up by 2:00 pm. Way past his usual hours, and yes, he felt as if he didn´t sleep well.

“Oh my… wha--- what time is it?” He said between yawns. By the time he looked at the time, he realized it was way too late. “2:31? HOW?!” He got to bed on really strange hours, and the time he was conscious between sleep, well, it didn´t do any good to him.

“Sally!” He immediately thought of his girlfriend. Her airplane had landed hours ago. By now, she must be at the hotel. She might´ve called, texted, and he just wasn´t available!

The thing is, when he rushed to his phone… there was nothing there. Not a missed call, or a new message. Nothing.

“Could she… still be at the office?” Sally was going to get to the office building before getting to the hotel. If he can remember right, she said she´ll be at some sort of meeting. There´s a chance she´s still at the meeting, that´s why she didn´t call.

“I should text her…” he thought.

Matt started typing, feeling guilty for having breakfast with the new neighbor. If it had been just a regular breakfast, then it would´ve been fine, but it wasn´t like that. Instead, he was treated for a meal by a sensuous amazon. Her body, he can blink and see a perfect picture of her body.

“Shit.” He thought, “Why couldn´t an older lady move in next door? There´s no chance I´d… leer at her.” If only Sally knew he´s been checking out the new neighbor.

Within a moment, while he was at the bathroom, he received a reply. The message he wrote was this:

“Hi! I hope you had a nice flight. How´s everything going? Are you done with your meeting? On your way to the hotel?” Were there too many questions? Well… yes.

Sally sighed as she read the message. The same type of messages… but her reply was like this:

“The flight was great! I´m actually at the hotel now. We got a room with such a nice view.” He read it while picturing her face, smiling at him.

Matt smiled, and replied back. “Glad you got a nice room! Hope the rest of the trip is just as nice :D” Why didn´t she text him? Even if she forgot to tell him the plane had landed. Or that she was at the airport. She agreed she´ll text as soon as she got to the hotel.

It´s not like he´s upset. Or trying to control her, it´s just that, he wanted to know she was fine. And, that she forgot about it…

She often seems to forget those little details. He fell asleep, ok, that´s on him. If she would´ve called and he missed the call, then he´d be the one who messed up. But there was no call, no text. No sign at all.

Had she forgotten about him? She´s been thinking on her, more than she´ll know, or need to know. Much less to know a few of the reasons why. He felt guilty, but at the same time, he feels forgotten…

“It´ll be wonderful! Now we´re heading out for some lunch. I´ll text you later XOXOXO” And so, she cut down the conversation.

Matt would´ve added that he missed her already. That he loves her. He should´ve said something else. But it just doesn´t feel good.

He´s unsure if he´s overthinking but, has she really gotten that dry? X´s and O´s mean hugs and kisses, but they feel kind of empty.

She´s been distant, he´s been distant. The euphoria of love, a new relationship, it´s gone. Instead of growing, their love seems to be fading. Just like a flame in the wind. Slowly cooling down into ashes…

grroooooowwwl She wasn´t the only one who needed lunch.

After texting “Love you X” he received no reply. Which wasn´t a good sign. Matt got up, changed, and went straight for something to eat. He doesn´t feel like cooking, and there´s no leftovers or anything he can pull up within five minutes for lunch.

He wanted to get out of the house, to avoid thinking on Sally and how things seem so wrong. He decided to get to a drive-thru and order something. Anything would do.

He hopped on the car and drove off. Looking at the road, peeking at the sky. Thoughtful. He was thinking on Sally, that he might be cheating on her just by looking at Brianna.

He also thought she´s been acting distant, and that this wasn´t completely his fault. But the truth is, a relationship is a two-sided road. This is as much his fault as it is hers.

Then, he heard a beeping sound. Coming from the dashboard.

“What the… low gas? Come on!” What a better way to feel worse than running out of gas?

Now, with almost no fuel on the car, and still quite a long way to the city, and the closest gas station, what´s the worse that could happen?

“Unbelievable…” Matt was walking down the road, carrying an empty container for his fuel-less car he left half a mile back.

He should´ve checked the fuel level, but it was Sally´s job to fill it up. She´s always using the car and never putting fuel to it. She always does the same thing, and he´s told her, one of these days the car will just stop in the middle of the road.

But he wasn´t completely right about it, it only drop HIM in the middle of the road. Now, he´s looking forward to a three-mile walk, on an empty stomach.

“Sally always forgets… she always forgets… about me.” About what he says, about his advice. And after receiving no message that she arrived, he´s starting to think she´s just forgetting about him completely!

Maybe he should´ve drink some water, his mouth felt dry. And his stomach was grumbling audibly.

No car stopped to give him a ride. But being fair, it´s only been like five cars that past him by.

Matt doesn´t feel good. He feels empty, on his stomach, and on his heart. Things were not going his way. Was he depressed? Certainly, who wouldn´t as they think of their life without love? He´s got a girlfriend, but it doesn´t feel that way.

Should he try harder? Should he keep pushing? Maybe it is his fault.

“Oh, please, give me a sing!” He screamed. Begging for a superior being to advice him. And, next thing he knows…

beep beep

Came a car´s horn as it past him by. And then, it stopped a few feet from him. The back of the car seems familiar…

A hand waved at him as he rushed to the car´s door. And who was this person? Well…

“Hi there, neighbor.” Brianna? For real?

“Hi, uh… what are you doing here?” he asked.

“Well, my fridge´s empty so, I was on my way to the store. How about you?” She asked, looking at the gas container on his hand. “Ran out of gas? I knew I recognized the car from a mile back. Who would´ve thought. Need a ride, neighbor?” He nodded.

Who would´ve thought? Brianna just came out of nowhere to save him. But, was she a sign?

“Thank you.” He said.

“No problem. I´m happy to help.” She smiled.

Her smile, her big, bright smile. She´s gorgeous. He wasn´t sure if it was her face, her eyes, her smile alone; or the fact that she just saved him. But she looks gorgeous.

Matt spent a moment in silence. Wondering, thinking. She often comes to him whenever he needs an answer. Was she actually the sing he´s been asking for?

She´s kind, polite. And pretty. Could it be that the universe has put her in this place for… him?

“So, where were you heading?” she asked.

“I… I was on my way to the closest gas station.” He said.

“I´m sure. But, what about before?” she asked, trying to know what was his original destination.

“Oh, I… groooooowwwl” he couldn´t even finish his sentence before his stomach betrayed him. That sound was so loud! His whole face turned red!

Matt immediately went silent. He was embarrassed.

Brianna just giggled. “Oh my… was that your…? I guess you were on your way for something to eat, am I right?” this was so embarrassing.

“I… I was.” He said.

“Don´t feel bad. We all get hungry. This isn´t the first time I hear a stomach growling. And, between you and I, mine sounds twice as loud when I´m hungry.” She was so easy to talk to. “Tell you what, why don´t we get something to eat? You know, before I´m the one who´s stomach growls.”

“But… weren´t you on your way to the store? I really don´t mean to bother.” He started.

“Oh, nonsense. I don´t mind. After all, it´s about time to get lunch. I must be honest, my eating schedule has been a mess lately. I think this is a great time to have something to eat.” She added.

“Are you sure you don´t mind?” he asked.

“Totally. Besides, you can show me the nice places around. You know, places to eat when I´m hungry…” she would use this as an excuse to get to know him better.

Brianna had some plans on her own. Right now, she was the savior, the lady who picked him from the road. Avoiding the long walk. And now, she´s going to get him closer to a meal.

Things are going smoothly for her…

They hopped out of the car. Matt picked a burger shack. He knows this place has the best burgers around town.

As they walked to the door, he was checking her out. He had forgotten how tall she was. He must keep in mind that she´s a whole foot taller than him. A pretty woman, standing at a statuesque 6´10”. With the right shoes, she´s a seven-foot-woman!

But, never before, has he seen such a gorgeous tall woman. She wasn´t just tall, she was amazonic! But at the same time, she was so gorgeous.

Her face was even cute. But in a much larger package. And her body, her long legs give some big strides. So shapely, so plump, and firm. Her legs are perfect.

“No! Matt! Don´t check her out! You´ve got a girlfriend!” One that doesn´t text… in fact, she didn´t even said she loves him back.

“So, what do you recommend?” Brianna asked.

“Huh?” He looked at her, past his menu. Hardly believing how pretty she was. But no! She´s not for him! He´s got a girlfriend!

“I´m not picky. I promise, what do you think I should have? Believe it or not, I don´t eat out often. I´m more like… a home meal girl, you know?”

“Oh, yeah. I get it. I don´t eat out too often as well. I… I usually pick the one with bacon. Oh, and fries!” He said.

“You like fries?” She asked.

“Who doesn´t?” he laughed.

“Very well.” A warm smile, coming from her face.

She wasn´t lying when she said she doesn´t go out much often. And today, it´s the first time, in so long, she´s eating out with someone. Just because, no party, no particular reason. Just her and a guy, sharing a meal. It felt nice…

His hunger was finally sated as he took in the first bite. Even if his mind was unclear. Breakfast and lunch with the same person? On the same day! Why does this feel like cheating?

Was it because Brianna was a pretty lady? Was it because her girlfriend´s away? Was it because he didn´t even tell her?

Matt feels guilty. The more he thinks about it, the worse he feels…

“What do you think we should pick for dessert?” she asked.

We? Why did she say “we”? they are not a “WE”! He´s overthinking, she´s just asking. He can´t exaggerate.

“I… I usually don´t eat dessert. I mean, not at a restaurant.” He admitted.

“And why not? What a better way to end a meal than with something sweet? How about… oh, triple chocolate cake?” she asked, pointing out at the thickest, most decadent piece of cake on the menu.

“If you like…” he said.

“How about… we both order the same? You know, so that we don´t get greedy and try to steal some from the other.” She giggled. “That way we both know how the other´s food taste. Hehe, sorry if it sounds weird.”

“Oh no, it´s ok. I guess it makes sense…” it does, somehow.

“I´m sorry, but we only have one piece left. Would you like to order something else?” Said the waited.

“It´s ok, we´ll share!” Replied Brianna.

Share? Share some cake? Was she actually willing to split a slice of cake? Wait! Why does this feel like a date?

“Don´t worry, Matt. She´s… probably she´s just trying to use this as an excuse to have cake. Like, she´ll totally eat the whole thing and just give me a bite. For sure…” he thought. But he was wrong.

“Open up…” she said as she drove a spoon full of cake towards him.

“I…” was she actually going to feed him a slice? She? Driving a spoon to his mouth? She?!

“Come on, don´t be shy.” She said. And when the amazon lady says it, you must do it.

“Mmm, oh, it´s quite tasty!” he said.

“Chocolate never fails, dear. Now, your turn.” She said.

“What?”

“I fed you some cake, now… how about you feed me some cake…” this seems odd. But this was her trying to see if he likes her. If he does what she says, he either likes her or… he´ll do it just because.

Best case scenario, this is casually romantic, and worst-case scenario, he thinks she´s weird. Her only hope is that she´s not appearing to be a bossy amazon who asks for weird things.

“Ok… uhm… here.” He said, grabbing a spoon and then, driving some cake to her mouth.

“Mmm, yeah… it´s tasty.” Why does this feel so much like a date?

He won´t ever speak about this. But… it does feel nice. She was sharing some time with him, making things fun. When was it the last time things were fun?

“I hope you don´t mind but… since I was kind enough to bring you here… do you think I can steal some of your time? I´d really use some help at the store. I often get lost at places like that. Not that I can´t find the way out, but… if you know where things are… you know… do you mind?” she asked.

“Sure. I´ll… show you.” Even if there´s sings over each aisle.

Does this mean she wants to spend time with him? Is this what normal neighbors do?

Not at all.

Things are getting weird. Brianna often pops up, then she just seems to like spending time with him. She´s a sensuous, amazon woman. What could she possibly like on him? Was she just using him as she says? Literally, to get to know places?

No way. She´s an independent woman. There´s no way she needs him, at all, to find stores or food to eat. It´s just an excuse. It is all an excuse to spend time with him.

But he can´t complaint. He is, but he shouldn´t…

As they walk down the store, as they walk through the aisles, he can´t stop checking her out.

Her butt´s the definition of perfect. Big, firm, and it bounces lightly when she rushes. Her legs are thick, long and sexy. And her boobs, those big, luscious breasts.

Matt can´t deny it, Brianna´s clearly a ten. A TEN! She´s pretty, she´s sexy, she´s friendly. Was she the sign he´s been asking for? More like, was she… girlfriend material?

“I really enjoy your company today.” Brianna smiled as they drove back to his car.

“Yeah, me too. It was… it was nice.” He said.

“It sure was. And, to be honest. I… I´m really glad.” She made a pause. “I´m really glad I made a friend. You know. It´s not easy to find someone when you just move in. And, I guess I was just… lucky.” She´s so sincere. And what she says sounds a bit silly, but in the cute way.

“I´m glad. I… thank you for, you know. Considering me a friend already, you know.” This was going fast. Maybe… too fast? No, she might just be sentimental or something like that.

“Aww. Why wouldn´t I? You´re such a nice guy! And, I´m sorry to ask, gosh, you´ll think I´m crazy. But… by any chance… Matt, are you single?” she was moving things at super speed.

But she knows he´s been checking her out. She doesn´t mind, she´s also been checking him out. And now, she can tell his heart just skipped a beat.

Did she just ask that?! What is he supposed to say?

“Shit!” he thought. Now, it´s the moment of the truth, what will his answer be?
