Bartleby

The scene when Bruce Willis is in the pawn shop and chooses to go back to save Marcellus instead of just abandoning him. Bruce goes down there with a sword and does this cool slash move on the owner of the pawn shop. Tarantino met Santa Sangre director, Alejandro Jodorowsky at a film festival and told him that bit was his homage to Santa Sangre. Remember in Santa Sangre at the end when Fenix has the she-male wrestler in his little theater before he goes crazy. He slashes and kills her with a sword. Tarantino emulated that as homage and was excited to share that with Alejandro Jodorowsky when he met him.

What's in the briefcase? A McGuffin.

Korny

I saw this in the theater with some friends, RIP to her. I was blown away and had never seen anything like it before.

Dawn, when is the next livestream?

The definition of Pulp Fiction is as follows:" Fiction dealing with lurid or sensational subjects, often printed on rough, low-quality paper manufactured from wood pulp."

Chicago Artist Jon

Scott stays off screen so we can’t see his ballgag. He’s Dawn’s Scottish Gimp. ⛓️

Jay Perry

This is not in the Bible.

Carl Evans

Well, that was most definitely the prettiest reaction to Pulp Fiction I've seen. Love the hair.

I saw this in the theater when it was released. My date got up and left when Vincent's heroin started sizzling in the spoon. I stayed to watch the rest of the movie, and I've watched it so many times since that it plays like an album in my head. After Jules and Vincent's loud destruction of Brett, those first few notes of Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" kick in beautifully to mellow the mood.

The definition of Pulp Fiction is the first thing in the movie

..stories from the big, seedy, city.. these all just happen to intersect. Saw in the theater and then hundreds of times since.. Made back in the day, where QT made the soundtrack just as good as the movie. We're not supposed to know what is in the briefcase.. but if you go to the Google.. you will see quite a few theories. :) Love your reactions... thank you for my big fat credit! 😍

No one really knows what's in the briefcase, but my favorite theory is that it's Marcellus's soul which he sold to the devil. The band-aid on the back of his neck is where his soul was removed. The definition of Pulp Fiction is shown at the very beginning of the film.

Bartleby

I’ve heard the theory that it’s his soul. And that there are some cultural lore of the soul being sucked out the back of the skull.

“Clutch Cargo” is the TV cartoon young Butch is watching in the flashback scene. It is a notorious example of the cheap, extremely limited animation of early 1960s kid shows, with a twist: Live shots of actors’ lips moving were superimposed onto still frames of the cartoon characters faces to (I suppose) make them seem more realistic. Instead, it may be one of the earliest examples of the “uncanny valley” effect that ends up just looking creepy!
