The son of a miner, Oscar had a very common childhood rooted in tradition. Although grateful for the security and love provided in his upbringing, the lack of exposure outside his community had him feeling some serious wanderlust by the time he hit his teens. His wish to travel was finally fulfilled when allowed to go on a special school trip to Tokyo. The experience abroad greatly inspired him and sparked a desire to express himself through fashion.
