Sacred Groves - 1 (Patreon)

Starting a new series is always exciting, but also challenging. Since I want my series to be consistent as a whole the first piece must establish the concept and style. Colors, perspective, scale, presentation, and many more design decisions must be made.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to focus more on scenes or specific plant sprites. 64x64 pixels isn't a lot for scenes but I thought simple sprites would be a bit boring to enjoy as individual artworks. Therefore, I sorta combined the idea by making small scenes that predominately feature a specific plant.

This is a Psychotria viridis, which contains a small amount of DMT and is an additive ingredient in the ayahuasca brew used in South and Central America where shamanism is still practiced.
