Pixelblog - 2 - Texture

Intro Texture can add a whole new level of richness, movement, and overall immersion to your work. However, creating texture with pixel art can be tricky, and If not treated with care, texture details will only add unnecessary noise.

Really cool. I've struggled with grass, and similar, for a while now. Is there a strategy for tiling the dark green area, or is your approach intended for drawing entire scenes?

The only special rule I used for the dark green area is it doesn't have any clusters on it but you can see familiar shapes stamped around the edges. Notice the flowers and plants are always placed on the light green area. This is a free-form texture for a large scene, but the same principles can be used to make tiles.

I’ll always cherish this tutorial- it’s the one that really kicked off my pixel journey of learning. Being that this was a long time ago, would you consider revisiting the topic of textures, maybe taking a look at some you’ve already covered as well as some new ones? That could be a fun pixelblog idea
