Ho ho, I have arrived with an animation. And, as I said earlier, it was from your list of suggestions! This is Android 18 and Mister Roshi, from One Piece, and it was suggested by Kodiak and Cunnilinguist. And, as specified, she is being impreg... impereger... impergenated...? That thing that happens, you know. I tried that thing the little... whatever, the indicator, off to the side. Peep the exclusive post to see it. And drag me through the streets because I probably didn't do it well.
So, like I had said, I took that concept of a short animation, this one's four frames, and used it as the "emergency" kinda thing. I wanted to see if I could, from the list. I had done strictly simple characters, like the Duolingo girl, and I wanted to see if I could do something, like... more typical? More like I actually tried. And I did actually try with this one! I tried doing a cooler angle. I didn't half-ass anything, it was tough. I'm actually really happy with how Mister Roshi turned out, he might be the bestest thing I've drawn yet. And that's a shame because he's an old pervert. I tried shading this one too. Oh, and I actually painted the background! I mean, it probably doesn't look great, but I used actual painting techniques. You wanna know something fucked? I've been doing this art thing seriously for about ten straight years. I have tried to get into painting several times in this decade. It's always been the same thing. You look at a tutorial, and the artist tells you "Just try out the brushes! Have fun!" It was not fun. I never learned anything.
Well, I saw a video, it wasn't even about fucking painting, it was about light and shadow. The guy did like a minute in the beginning to explain digital painting. Put two colors down, using a brush with some pressure opacity. Overlap the colors. Color pick the color between them. Congrats, you can now blend. That was it, that was all I needed. That was the starting point, now I know what to do and try. Ten years, and that's what it took. All those people who say "Just try out all the brushes!" need to be hunted down by dogs.
Uh, anyways. I'm not like, a fan of Dragon Ball or anything. I watched it as a kid, and liked it back then, but I don't think I could get back into it. I did recently watch an episode with my friend from Argentina, it was all in Spanish. I do not speak Spanish. He also showed me this, I watched the whole thing with him. It was an experience. A transcendence.
That's all there is outta me. No big novel of goofs and gags for this post. I'm too tired. The Misato animation hasn't been hard, it's just tedious. Starting something new, IE this one, was a nice change of pace. Plus, it was from the list, it got some votes. I figure you'd like to see this one more. Plus, I want to establish the whole "make a quick animation from the list of suggestions" thing.
So, going forward, I'll be chipping away at the main stuff. Once again, it's finishing Misato, finishing old unfinished things (Metal Slug, Frankie, minor fixes and additions to others, etc) then the Teen Titans stuff (I think I know how to do it now), more Nemona, Loona, then Misty. I want to get a good schedule going, so again, if I can't get something finished, I'll check the list and make a short one from it. This ended up being 24 hours, which is kinda in the range of being long, but I think it was worth testing it out. I know that I can make something at a funky angle, decently detailed, shaded, with a painted background and goofy effects, and it'd take 24 hours.
So, sorry this month was kinda shite. My head's screwed on again, I think I'll be nice and productive from now on. I'll get Misato done, then I'll venture into the dark depths of my old, unfinished projects. Stay tuned for that. I'm shuddering already.
