[ANIMATION] DUO (Patreon)

Portuguese translation by my homie @Diders_. I asked him to say "KYDE has a monstrous cock," I think that's what it says.
Ho ho, I've done it again. This is Lily, from Duolingo. The language learning app. I used it like, years ago (to try and learn fucking Japanese, because of course it was Japanese. I'm no better than pond scum) but at that time they didn't have any of these cute characters. But, I saw that people like this one because she's a rude goth girl. Or something. She just looks purple to me. But, she's got a very simple design, so again I wanted to test my speed at making animations where that foundation of "simple character" is a key factor. I know, I know. I need to be doing other things. Bigger things. Still, I want to thoroughly test this theory.
Now, she does have a simple design. Kinda like 5-Volt from four days ago (less than a week!). However, this chick has colored lines. AND, I wanted to try and remake the Duolingo UI, which is all in vector. Plus, I wanted to do an intro segment, make it like an Instant Loss thing. Of which there is just one version, sorry. I don't want to render any more out. It's not fun. All these other parameters. Plus, I ain't know shit about vector. I fucking forgot everything I learned about it in college. So I just brute-forced it. I had no idea what I was doing, and this was the graphic designer who I have locked in a cage in my room watching me do it all. Man, Patreon sucks at trying to meme. No video support. Won't add that, but they will change their damn logo again and again.
So, all this shit. Colored lines, which I've done but never in an animation. Vector art, which I've never done in Krita before. My first ever two-scene animation. How long did it take me? For reference, 5-Volt from four days ago (less than a week!) took me around 15 hours, pen to stylus. Nemona, from last month, same frame count, took forty hours. This one, with all the extra shite, took twenty hours. Twenty!
I think the theory is adequately tested. Okay okay, no more of these little deals. Still, I am just so relieved that I'll be able to whip these out if need be. I know this probably isn't very exciting, because none of these characters lately are exactly mainstream and popular, and that y'all would rather see the labors of love featuring popular characters. Like the crab one. Everybody loves the crab one. Truly, my magnum octagon. Like, I get asked to do Loona again so often. Not to autofellate myself, but I went back to see what all the fuss was about, and man. Yeah, I do think I did well on that one. So I get it. And I will. But... this month has just been such a huge boost to my self-esteem. This is, what, the third one this month? I did it in less than a week? I don't feel horrifically burnt out? I tried new things and am happy with how it turned out? I feel like The Man. I've never done three in a month before. I dunno. It's a far cry from my usual bullshit. "Here's one static art piece. This month's free. My head's broken, wah wah wah." Like, shit. I probably have time for a fourth this month. IT'S GOING TO BE FRANKIE. I don't have anything else I want to test. I'm getting back on it tomorrow, guaranteed.
That's all from me. Going forward, I'll be primarily working on big fat animations, as usual. Your Frankies, your Loonas (I will do another Loona, by the way), your Nemonas, that sorta deal. But, once again. If I run outta time, I'll pump the brakes and whip one of these out. Because I can. We have proven it with science. If y'all have any simple character ideas, hit me with them. You probably know what I mean by now, like Lily, like 5-Volt, like Hornet. I've got my eyes set on the devil mom from Jackbox. That game's pretty fun, and her colors are great. Plus, MILF. I'll take these simple characters and just make a big list of them. I probably won't do WIP posts for them, I kinda like just zeroing in on it and getting it done without worrying about hitting WIP milestones.
Alright, test's done. Frankie's next.
Yer pal,
