In my opinion from season 1 to season 4 the show is so amazing, season 5 and onwards the show does drop in terms of quality and writing.

for me season 2 is peak scandal. all other seasons have great parts and wacky parts, but I never stopped enjoying the show regardless. if you’re into crazy drama you’ll love it ;)

Watching this show in real time was an experience. The cast used to live tweet the episodes, fun times. Whether it falls off is really matter of opinion. Last two seasons were my least fave but entertaining enough. Seasons 1-4 were perfection IMO. Also the show premiered in April and Shonda was pissed they only gave her a seven episode order. network didn’t believe in its success, she proved them wrong.

I think S1-4 are amazing and then quality dips some but is still very good. I will always stan Mellie, her pretty much saying, "I was a good wife, why couldn't you be a good mistress" to Liv sends me every time. Both of them are way too good and way too smart for Mr. "I will quit because I wanna be normal." And yeah S1 left us to ponder who is Quinn Perkins. I will say I was not into Quinn first time around, but actually dig her a lot on rewatch here.

Thanks for the wonderful reaction to season one! To recap where everyone left off: * Olivia chose Fitz's presidency over being with Fitz * Mellie claims it was her on the sextape, and intends to claim to be pregnant to sell it * Huck exercises "I promised I won't kill Billy but that doesn't mean I can't ask Charlie to do it" , resulting in Charlie and Billy getting on the same elevator. * Cyrus is confirmed to also be capable of murder, having used Charlie to kill Amanda. One could have inferred that from the "That's sad" monologue a few episodes ago, but it's never confirmed. Finally, the season-ending cliffhanger: Quinn isn't really Quinn. Recall from 1x4 how Cyrus's PI couldn't find anything on her from before 2008 (4y ago)? Well apparently whatever her history is, David running her prints revealed that **6 federal agencies** are looking for her, so it isn't small. Also, Olivia knows about whatever it is, and Quinn hasn't told her (at least on screen), so how is Olivia involved? Re: 7 episode season; as is often the case for shenanigans like this, the network is to blame. Thankfully they learned their lesson with S1, and you can look forwards to much longer seasons moving forwards. I look forwards to seeing you react to Season 2!

Yes every single season is better than the last. I barely even remember season 1 because it just gets better and better. Buckle up because this is a whirlwind of a series for real. Your mouth will be gaped open every season. The writing and acting is simply incredible. All of Shanda's shows are excellent! This show is sooo good!!.

I agree with the other comments, seasons 1-4 are definitely my fave scandal seasons, but the last seasons are definitely still good and binge worthy. The main reason this show ended after only 7 seasons is because Shonda did not want the show to be one of those shows that dragged on for too long and flops. (really targeting greys with that one lmao) So excited for season two!! The chaos and scandals are just beginning…
