it's time

Elizabeth

I’m gonna comment before I watch. I’m not ready for the emotional roller coaster 😭

Morgan

This episode is definitely the hardest episode of Glee to watch because it is clear the cast wasn't acting. Much of what was shot for the episode was done in one take because the cast had a hard time shooting this episode. This episode is even harder to watch now because of Naya's passing, her bigger role in this episode because of her real life friendship with Cory, and the song she sings in this episode (I know you had to skip it for personal reasons Travis but Naya's "If I Die Young" was a great cover but definitely hard to listen to now anyways because Naya has passed away and the song's lyrics are just a little to close lyrically to how Naya passed away). Lea's performance is hard to watch knowing her and Cory were together at the time of his death. The one thing about this episode I would've changed is Tina's scene with Emma. This episode was a great tribute for Cory/Finn but the one thing that is out of place is Tina's scene. Every time I've watched this episode since it originally aired I skip over Tina's scene. If I was Jenna I would've been mad and uncomfortable if I saw what she had to say as Tina in the script for this episode.

Siobhan Linehan

I just can't watch this episode again so this is a reaction I'll have to skip. It's Lea especially who breaks my heart. 😭😭

Lacy Hause

I've been patiently waiting and dreading this reaction for quite some time. Now it's here, I'm not sure if I want to watch it. But, here I am with my tissues ready to go.

Helen Moore

Pardon my French but the one thing about this episode is they sang the f*ck out of every single song for Cory.

Kayla

Yeah Lea is always the hardest part of this episode for me as well. All of their emotions are so raw and real but hers just hit different for me entirely.

Jeanette Dawe

This episode is sad but it my to favourite it is really well done and a beautiful tribute to Cory/Finn. The scene with Beiste and Puck gets me every time.

John buchanan

I am not ready to watch this omg

Angie H.

can never not cry with this episode. i try not to watch it often because the emotion out of everyone is so palpable that it hurts too much.

Angie H.

so sorry for your loss, travis 🩵 totally respect not being able to listen to that song. thank you for another beautiful reaction

Siobhan Linehan

Yep agreed. She was literally going to marry him two weeks after he died. I don't know how she ever got past that and how she continued on with the show. Shes incredibly strong and brave. 💕

Georgia Turner

This episode came out when I was 13 and I'm not 22 and It is still so hard to watch I normally avoid it when rewatching glee, bit I decided to watch it with you today, I do listen to the songs from this episode but I can't listen to the one Naya sings because ever since she died it hurts to hear it Dianna Agron (Quinn) hasn't stated the exact reason why she didn't come back for this episode but she has said that she wasn't singled out she was invited to be in the episode.

Capri Zonica

Sad that "If I die young" triggers you for personal reasons and you had to skip because that was the best scene and song form the episode, imo. Naya's acting was top notch here. Two weeks before Cory died Naya stated in an interview that she wished she could sing Make you feel my love on the show. Weird coincidence. As for Dianna, her absense is so loud. She should've been there but it has never been cleared why she wasn't there. She was promorting a movie back then and it was rumored she wasn't even invited but well, one day she'll tell or maybe Kevin and Jenna will comment on it in their podcast when they get to this episode. One thing I wished it happened is that the newbies had a song or lines about Finn because in the show he was their coach but it seems that this was more like an homage to Cory, not Finn.

Natalie Davis

This episode is so heartbreaking...I sob every time I see it! Rip Corey. Not sure why Quinn wasn't there, but neither was Brittany...maybe they just weren't available?

Nicole Sadler

Thank you so much Travis for your heartfelt and emotional reaction. Sending love!

Dani

Such a tough episode to watch even now after 10 years have gone by and with the loss of Naya as well it just makes it hurt more. Sending you love Travis! 💛

Kammy

🥺🥺🥺

Alicia Cue

i do know that ryan murphy had problems w/ diana and he definitely let that seep through to the show, which was super heartbreaking and childish because diana and Corey were very very close

Naomi Marshall

The toughest scene to watch in my opinion would be with the mom, especially after becoming one myself.

Capri Zonica

Brittany, er, Heather Morris was about to give birth or just had her baby around those days.

Alex Sivori

I sang "if I die young" at my friends memorial. I can't watch Naya sing it. Especially her being gone too... May both Cory and Naya rest in peace.

Amber Karin

I agree about the newbies. It felt kinda awkward to have Marley/Ryder/Jake in the background.

This episode makes me ball my eyes out. I used to watch Glee every week when it would come out with my family. I was at summer camp when Cory passed and had no access to technology or magazines or outside communication until the end of the month. My mom told me and my sister that he passed when they picked us up and we balled our eyes out at 13. Glee as a show really brought my whole family together and it felt like we had lost a family member. That’s the only celebrity death I have ever cried over in my life. He was just so young. Everytime I watch this (I’ve watched it maybe 7 or 8 times since it came out, always so hard to watch) I ball, including with you. I think this episode did a wonderful job of memorializing Cory. I remember reading that Lea had a huge input on the making of the episode and that the cast all picked out their own songs because it was truly them saying goodbye to Cory.

Matty Ryan

I’m glad you chose to react to it. I haven’t seen this episode since it originally aired because I can’t bring myself to watch the scene with the family going through his belongings. Ever since my brother passed away it’s just way too real, but “watching” it with you made it easier to get through and was kinda cathartic. Looking forward to the more cheery fun episodes though!

Queen Shay

This episode make me cry every single time Finn was definitely a character I fell in love with since the beginning. Corey is definitely still very missed by everyone and for sure by me as I cry every single time I see this episode. I remember when it first aired I was around my family and just bawled out crying but I’m glad they did comfort me instead of making fun of me. I know I didn’t know him personally but when you connect with a character or a person you feel hurt and sad as well. We miss you Corey ❤️ R.I.P

Natasha Medina

The scene with Finn’s mother always makes me immediately sob. The line, “You have to keep on being a parent even though you don’t get to have a child anymore”. My god. How do parents move forward once their child passes? I don’t think I could ever have the strength for that. Also, seeing Lea in every scene that she’s in always makes me cry, again, almost immediately. My heart breaks for her. Which I think is why no matter what awful things she’s done and said (which *are* awful) I can never hate her. Losing the person you expected to spend the rest of your life with is beyond heartbreaking. I’m so sorry about what you mentioned in the beginning in regard to Naya’s song. This episode really is difficult to watch and no matter how many times I see it, it never gets easier. Thank you for letting us watch it with you 💙

Jade Coulthurst

This is such a tough watch. To a point where if I hear any of these songs covered in the episode now, I think of this. Completely understand you skipping Naya's performance when you have such a visceral and upsetting memory attached to it. It

Jade Coulthurst

All the genuine sorrow in this is definitely the bit that gets you. So clear they are grieving Cory and not Finn, but still write it well so we can contribute it to Finn also. Thank you for such an open, honest reaction, Travis. I promise next episode is a lot lighter.

Erin

I’m so glad you skipped that song. I can’t watch that/listen to it either. 😢

Clay W

The scene with Carol, Kurt, and Burt breaks me down every single time. Also I don't blame you at all for skipping Santana's performance. It hurts way too much to hear it now that she's gone.

Lex Larae

Such a hard episode. It hits me every time.

Celeste Tay

started crying from the moment "season of love" starts playing...

leslie martin

i cried as soon as seasons of love started just like always... for the episode itself, i think it was beautiful. and to be honest, if Lea, Cory's parents and the ones closest to him were okay with this episode, then i'm also okay with it. I think it was a beautiful hommage, and i'm really happy that they never talked about how he died, bc the world knew what happened in real life, and we don't need to make a storyline out of this. Cory's death was everywhere, and the cast grieving was all over tv. I remember the cast showing up at the teen choice awards just a few weeks after he died, and even Lea making a surprise appearance... I think they were all VERY pressured to grief publicly. I remember paps were everywhere, even in front of Kate Hudson's house, where Lea went to live at the time (she offered her house so she didn't have to come back to her and Cory's home, which tragically, Lea did the same for Becca Tobin, Kitty's actress, when she lost her boyfriend around the end of glee), Dianna was on a press tour and tearing up on tv bc they asked her questions, Chord was on tour and performed song for Cory like 2 weeks after he dies, more got dumb questions asked in interviews... and that's why everything was done super quickly : accepting teen choice award, interviews, coming back to film, quaterback episode... bc it was the "big topic" back in the day, and everyone was asking if glee was going to come back, if Lea was going to quit... Looking back, i know most of them say right now that it was the worse idea to come back so quick (i know Ryan, Kevin, Jenna said it), but as they said, back then you didn't really have any healthy work ethics, mental health talk and most certainly, no other cast got through what they did.. a super close cast, losing their lead on set, and leader off set, to such circonstance, just a few weeks before coming back to shooting your new season. and if Lea was ready to come back, to get out of her head, then why would the other ones say no? (not healthy but seems right)

leslie martin

the songs... Mercedes and Santana were so raw in their voices and interpretation.. I understand how you skipped the song! and i'm sorry for your loss. Naya made an amazing interpretation of that song and i'm sobbing everytime i hear/watch it. Rachel's song was beautiful and still the most emotional for me. I think Lea said she chose this song because she listened to it with Cory (a bit like the script). She was literally shaking and had tears on her shirt during her performance.. everyone reacting... it's too much for me :(((

leslie martin

i'm just gonna add one thing that NO ONE ever mentions, and since i'm a Rachel fan, i'm going to say it. please, for the future, take into consideration that she's 18, and she just lost the love of her life. I don't want to or wil spoil anything, but i'm just gonna ask you to not forget about that. Bc i've seen the show with other reactors, and even glee fans forget that, yes Cory died in real life and that's hard to think about Finn and plot lines, BUT in Rachel Berry's world, Finn died. and it's not gonna be addressed a lot bc of course what happened in real life is WAY more important and sad, and in the actors world it's worse, so acting grief all the time is annoying. but i'm asking you kindly and hopefully you'll see this, be gentle on her, bc i know she's not your fave or the general public's fave but people always forget to take her feelings into consideration (bc she's an annoying diva okayyy) :)

Guillermo Orozco

If I’m not mistaken, Diana was in Italy filming “The Family”. There’s an interview with her and the cast promoting the film and she gets asked about Cory

Capri Zonica

Not filming, just promoting but usually that type of stuff is under contract. While Diana has never stated the reason of why she wasn't in this episode, most likely she had to decline They started filming this ep in August but let's remember Glee was infamous fot it's chaotic production so I it's safe to guess they couldn't work out a sensible schedule for her. It's not like she was Ryan Murphy's favorite to allow that type of flexibility because, let's be honest, they could've written a small little scene that didn't require her to be around three weeks like the others.

2023-11-12 23:15:50 Im just gonna say it: Schue is actual trash for stealing the jacket and allowing Puck to take the blame. I get his instinct of wanting to have it but for him to put puck in a position to be disliked by the whole group when all they need is each other is fucked up. Period.

I am not sure if anyone else mentioned it but the conversation that Mr. Schue and Rachel have where Rachel says she will have a big broadway career and then come back and Finn will be teaching at the school…that was how the show was supposed to end. I know some people hate it because Rachel the Broadway star would never want to come home and settle down. I always liked it in a poetic way. It would have been such a sweet ending. Also, I totally understand why you skipped If I Die Young. I think for ra lot of us it became way harder to listen to after Naya passed away. The breakdown at the end of the song was scripted but I believe it happened before it was supposed to making it a little too real. As others have pointed out most of the scenes in this episode were shot in one take or as few as possible. Darren asked not to have any songs or lines in this episode. I agree this episode feels so very different after losing Naya and well with all the stuff that happened with Mark. It just hits differently then when it originally aired. Oh, lastly, it was basically Lea’s decision to continue with the show. Well that is how the story is told anyways. Supposably Ryan went to her and asked her what she wanted to do. She wanted to keep doing the show. Ryan talked about this on Jenna and Kevin’s podcast and said that in hindsight it might have been better to not have come back. I don’t know. I am kind of glad we as fans got to say good-bye to such a beloved character and actor. On the other hand I cant imagine how difficult this was to film and I don’t blame other shows for just ending when a lead/main actor dies.

Suzy Differ

I see you crying already. And I'm still at the opening scene. Just know that you're in good company. Because I have seen this episode so many times and they still start crying at the first song. And blubber the whole way through.
