I rooted for Owen as well. I can empathize with the torment and loneliness he felt in his town. It takes a village to raise a child. Well, It took a village to destroy Owen for dang sure. Emotionally/physically abused by his cop dad, ignored/dismissed by the school as they refuse to validate his talents and emphasize his failures, bullied & sexually tormented by classmates, who were given free passes. His mom drank her sorrows away and perished in that crash, leaving him alone with the evil father. Is there any wonder his value system/ outlook on the world was tarnished outside of his love for Jordan? Heartbreaking episode for Owen, Reed, and Jordan. All suffered abuse/neglect at school and home that was ignored. Wonderful review Travis! :)

Agreed, I love it when others put into words what I am feeling but don't have the words for, thank you 😊 I will never, ever understand how teachers/parents/police can just stand by and do nothing while something like this happens. "Owen identified them but you could only hear their voices." Please...

This episode made me sad and mad. Or more like mad, sad, mad, sad, mad and then sad again. The audacity of those police officers, I got sooo mad. Damn. But I did kinda love this quote (even if it's mayyybe not that appropriate) to cheer for Reid when he says it: "Boys have a way of sorting these things out for themselves." - "Yeah, they sure do. Right now Owen's out there sorting things out with an assault rifle." Yesss, Reid. PS: Tobias Hankel got Reid addicted to Dilaudid, as this was the drug that he himself was addicted to. I don't know if it was ever really specified if Reid "only" used Dilaudid, but they showed him taking the vials from Tobias at the end so I just assumed that he continued with that.

This is definitely one of the episodes that sticks in my brain. I remember watching it the first time & actually feeling conflicted. Owen was the “unsub”, but I completely understood why he was was going through everything. I would never condone violence, but I could clearly see his reasoning behind why he did what he did & I understood his thought process. I loved seeing Reid struggle & try to process through this case, with it hitting close to home for him.

I think you got the idea of him doing heroin because in that ep they discovered what drug Tobias was using the guy said “dilaudid” and Prentiss responds “drugstore heroin”

Well damn! Y'all going a little light on Owen the mass murderer here, even Travis who I don't usually expect that from 😂 Maybe in part that has to do with how they were really pushing Reid identifying with him, which I didn't fully buy (even though I love any ep where Reid is a focus). If anything, I think Reid identifying with him is a reason not to feel much sympathy for Owen. Someone said above this was a heartbreaking episode for Owen, Reid, and Jordan who all suffered abuse/neglect at home and school that was ignored. And yet, only 1 of them chose to deal with that by blowing up a house and gunning down a bunch of people. There's gotta be something REALLY really wrong with someone to make that choice. Murder is not a normal or justifiable response to trauma- just saying!

Even though I think murder isn't "justifiable" I do understand what pushes a person like Owen to do it. As we see in real life ,majority of school shooters have underlying mental health issues, and or disabilities that are not always diagnosed or treated. In addition to that bullying and bad home life add to it creating school shootings/murderers. Owen thought he was being a vigilante killing those who have hurt him or Jordan, those people did deserve consequences and I see why Owen killed them. Even though I don't think Owen should have killed them and he should go to jail for murder, I do understand and it garnishes sympathy from me for him.
