This is frankly a terrible suit to go swimming in.

So update on the computer front, it looks like things are stable again. Frankly it had been something I put off for a long time, just formatting the main drive. It turned out that's essentially what I had to do to fix the thing. Thankfully there weren't any expensive total hardware failures, and reformatting and starting fresh is a good way to eliminate any old bugs.

Having most of my material existing in the cloud has helped tremendously in getting things back together. I won't bore you with the details but after some time working (and a lot of time huddled in a fetal position) I managed to get the computer back to work again.
