Admittedly Senshi was a bit of a dangerous ass when he was stomping on those traps :D But you're so spot on saying that everyone had their chance to learn and grow here. That is a theme of the story that continues on for pretty much the whole experience, so I'm excited to see you guys break it apart as the anime progresses!

Also good point about the skill level of the group. They did mention that they WOULD/SHOULD win against the red dragon, so they're definitely not pushovers.
