🌌👁️✨ The eyes that adorn the topper are not mere decoration; they are the petrified remnants of the Watchers of the Void, beings that once gazed into all realities simultaneously. The Toppers were originally created as gifts for interplanar travelers, meant to aid them in navigating the treacherous pathways between worlds. However, many of the hats found their way into the hands of mortal wizards, who quickly discovered their additional uses in the arcane arts. 🌌👁️✨

Voidgazer's Topper

Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

This tall, conical hat is covered in a fabric that seems to absorb light, dotted with small, luminescent stars and a multitude of eyes that shift and blink independently. When you place the topper on your head, you can feel the vast knowledge of the cosmos filtering through your mind.

While wearing this hat, you gain a +1 bonus to your spell attack rolls.

The hat has 3 charges. While wearing it, you can use an action to expend 1 charge to cast the darkvision spell on yourself without using a spell slot or components. The effect lasts for 8 hours or until you remove the hat. The hat regains all expended charges at dawn.

Eyes of the Void. Once per day, while wearing the hat, you can enter a trance as an action. This trance lasts for 1 minute and grants you the ability to see into the Ethereal Plane up to a range of 60 feet. During this trance, you are blind to your own plane.

Curse. This item is cursed, a fact that is revealed only when an identify spell is cast on the item or you attune to it. Attuning to the topper binds it to you until you are targeted by a remove curse spell or similar magic; removing the topper before then is impossible. While cursed, you have disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when trying to see anything more than 30 feet away, as distant visions of the cosmos distract your sight.
