🌑🐍💀 Crafted in the depths of a cursed fen, shrouded in perpetual mists and the silence of a forgotten swamp, these sinister weapons seem to have been born from the very essence of blight. The air around them is tinged with the scent of decay, and their presence alone seems to leech the life from their surroundings. The twisted black metal from which they are forged is said to have been cooled in the diseased waters of the fen, absorbing the corruption that festers within its stagnant pools. Legends whisper of their creation by a coven of hag witches, who, under a sickly green moon, chanted eldritch incantations and imbued them with maladies not seen since ancient times. They are not just weapons but vessels for the vilest afflictions, instruments of doom that, once unsheathed, bring a plague upon the battlefield, leaving pestilence and sorrow in their wake 🌑🐍💀

Pestilent Trident

Weapon (trident), very rare (requires attunement)

Crafted in the depths of a cursed fen, shrouded in perpetual mists and the silence of a forgotten swamp, it is a sinister weapon that seems to have been born from the very essence of blight. The air around it is tinged with the scent of decay, and its presence alone seems to leech the life from its surroundings.

It is a magic trident that provides a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls.

The trident holds 3 charges and regains all expended charges daily at dawn.

When you hit a creature with a melee attack using this trident, you can expend one charge to cast the contagion spell (spell save DC 15) on the target. No separate attack roll is required.

Infectious Strike. If a creature is under the effect of a contagion spell, the trident inflicts an additional 2d6 poison damage to that creature upon a hit.

Chain Infection. If you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with the trident while it is under the effect of a contagion spell, you can immediately make a melee attack with the trident against another creature within 5 feet of the original target. If this attack hits, you can then expend a charge to cast contagion on the new target without requiring a separate melee spell attack roll.
