Staff of Mistweave

Staff, very rare (requires attunement by a druid or sorcerer)

It appears as a masterfully crafted staff, its shaft a spiraling column of silver and azure that seems to flow like water. Atop it, a cloud of sculpted mists billows, cradling a core of glowing blue energy that pulses with contained lightning.

While you hold it, you gain a +1 bonus to spell attack rolls.

The Staff of Mistweave has 5 charges and regains all expended charges daily at dawn.

Mistweave Cloud. You can expend 1 charge as an action to conjure a swirling mist within a 20-foot radius at a point you can see within 60 feet of you. This mist remains for 1 hour or until strong wind disperses it, and it heavily obscures the area. While standing in the mist, you may use an action to attune yourself to its properties. Upon doing so, for the next 10 minutes, you gain the ability to see through the mist up to 30 feet. Additionally, if you cast a spell that deals lightning or cold damage while in the mist, you may expend a charge to reroll any damage dice for a spell that deals lightning or cold damage, but you must use the new roll.

Maximize Thunderfrost. While the Mistweave Cloud is active, you can expend the remaining charges of the staff to amplify the power of a spell that deals lightning or cold damage. If you cast such a spell on a target within the cloud using a spell slot of 5th level or lower, you can maximize the spell's damage, so it deals the highest possible amount instead of rolling for damage.

Mistweaving Overload. When you expend all the charges of the Staff of Mistweave, you may roll a d6 die. On an even roll, the staff regains all its charges. On an odd roll, the staff breaks, unleashing an uncontrolled lightning storm that functions similarly to the call lightning spell. This storm lasts for the duration specified in the call lightning spell, and you do not have control over where the lightning strikes (GM’s control).
