🌪️🔮💦 So there I was, sailin' the Seven Seas, when out o' the blue, I sees this beast, larger than the Kraken himself, eyes like glowin' coals in the dark o' night. The creature was wieldin' a staff that danced with the ocean's fury. They called it the Staff of Riptide, or so the tales whispered in the wind.

This staff, it be not just a piece o' wood, but the heart o' the sea itself. Crafted from the timber o' a ship that defied a tempest, it held the storm's wrath and the calm o' the deep in its core. The creature, some sort o' sea witch or wizard, I reckon, used the staff to conjure up whirlpools, turnin' the sea against us, thrashin' our ship like it be a mere toy.

The power it had... it could whip up the waves and command the winds, churnin' the sea into a frenzy. But there be more, this sea sorcerer, with a mere wave o' the Staff of Riptide, turned into mist, vanishin' and reappearin' on the deck itself! And with a laugh that echoed o'er the thunderin' waves, the creature unleashed a torrential blast that froze the mast solid! 🌪️🔮💦

Staff of Riptide

Staff, very rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

This elegantly carved staff is made from the twisted roots of an ancient tree that drank from a magic spring. Its gnarled wood pulses with arcane energy.

While holding and attuned to the staff, you gain a +2 bonus to spell attack rolls and you can breathe underwater. The staff has 10 charges for the following properties. It regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges daily at dawn.

  • Misty Escape (1 charge): When you take damage, you can use your reaction to turn into mist and move up to 30 feet without provoking opportunity attacks. You regain your physical form at the end of the movement.
  • Maelstrom Shield (2 charges): As an action, you can create a swirling shield of water around you, granting you a +2 bonus to AC for 1 minute.
  • Torrential Riptide (3 charges): You can release a concentrated burst of water from the staff as an action, casting the cone of cold spell (save DC 17).
