🐀🛡️🌀Grates, drainpipes, and even loose patches of cobblestones become portals of horror as countless rats stream forth. In moments, the square is alive with the squeaking and gnashing of ten vast swarms of rats. They move as one, a sea of writhing, hungry vermin controlled by the dark will of the necromancer.

Your party fights valiantly, slashing and burning through the masses of rats. Spells explode, arrows fly, and steel sings, but for every rat that falls, another two seem to take its place. The tide of the battle is grim.

Just as things look most dire, the party's mage releases a massive burst of radiant energy, wiping out the majority of the rats in a blinding explosion. The warriors cleave through the remnants, the tide finally turning in your favor.

Suddenly, amidst the carnage, the hooded figure falters, his concentration broken. He stumbles, his power waning. As your party closes in for the final blow, the necromancer utters an incantation, his body convulsing. In the blink of an eye, where the figure once stood is now just a single, ordinary rat. With a speed belying its size, the rat scuttles away, disappearing into a tiny crack in a nearby building, leaving the square in an eerie silence broken only by the heavy breathing of the party. 🐀🛡️🌀

Ratking’s Armor

Armor (studded leather), legendary (requires attunement)

Lifelike rat faces with hungry eyes peer out from the shoulder guards, and the armor itself seems to be woven from a combination of finely tanned leather and the fur of rats. When closely observed, one can almost hear the distant chittering of a hidden rat nest.

While wearing this armor, you gain a +2 bonus to AC and you can communicate with rats and other rodent-like creatures. They understand you and can communicate simple ideas and emotions back.

Stealth of the Rat. You have advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks.

Scavenger's Luck. If you would fail a saving throw, you can choose to reroll the die twice and take either of the new results. You can use this property twice, and expended uses are restored at dawn.

Swarm Summon. As an action, you can summon ten swarms of rats from the armor. The rats spill forth and occupy your space as well as your chosen adjacent spaces. This functions similarly to the conjure animals spell, but it summons ten swarms of rats instead. The summoned rats are friendly to you and your allies and follow your commands. You need to maintain concentration on this effect as if you were concentrating on a spell. After 10 minutes, losing concentration, or when reduced to 0 hit points, a swarm dissipates. You can use this property twice, and expended uses are restored at dawn.

Rat's Escape. If you drop to 0 hit points but are not killed outright, you can choose to drop to 1 hit point instead and immediately transform into a rat (as per the polymorph spell, but only into a rat) up to 1 minute or until you revert back to your original form. You can use this property twice, and expended uses are restored at dawn.
