❄️🛡️💀 The once-grand hall of the ancient citadel was now a scene of devastation. Pillars lay shattered on the ground, and the great chandeliers hung precariously, some of their crystals scattered below, refracting the ambient magical light in a thousand directions.

At the center of it all, the malevolent lich you had been tracking for so long, its form now lifeless, sprawled out on the cold stone floor. Wisps of its once powerful essence tried to escape, only to be pulled back and dissolved into the arcane wards you set up prior to the confrontation.

As the dust settled, your eyes were drawn to the Tombfrost Plate the lich was wearing. Despite the fierce battle, it remained untouched, almost as if time itself refused to mark it. The intricate patterns resembling ice crystals shimmered, casting an ethereal glow. The dark gem embedded in its center pulsed, albeit weaker now, as if mourning the death of its master.

You approached cautiously, each step echoing throughout the hall. While you knew the lich was defeated, one could never be too careful around such powerful artifacts. Using the tip of your blade, you gently nudged the armor, half expecting a trap or curse to be unleashed.

Nothing.

Carefully, you unbuckled the armor and lifted it from the now rapidly decaying form of the lich. It felt surprisingly light in your hands and unnaturally cold. A sense of power emanated from it, yet also a haunting sadness, as if the very soul of the armor was lamenting its dark past. ❄️🛡️💀

Tombfrost Plate

Armor (any heavy), legendary (requires attunement)

This chilling plate armor is adorned with intricate patterns resembling ice crystals that shimmer with a faint blue hue. Embedded within the plate is a dark gem, pulsating with necrotic energy.

While wearing this armor, you gain a +1 bonus to AC and resistance to cold damage.

The armor has 5 charges and regains 1d4+1 expended charges daily at midnight.

As an action, you can expend 1 charge to cast the finger of death spell (save DC 17), but it deals cold damage instead of necrotic.

If you expend the last charge, roll a d20. On a 20, The armor regains 1d4 charges and on a 1, you suffer 3 levels of exhaustion and are considered undead, as per the reborn race, until your next long rest.
