Threads of the Eldritch Depths

Wondrous Item, very rare (requires attunement)

This sumptuous robe appears to be made from deep crimson fabric, yet upon closer inspection, it shimmers and shifts like the watery depths of a dark ocean. The robe's hem is alive with numerous tentacles, each moving with a mind of its own.

While wearing the robe, you can sense the presence and type of any aberration within 300 feet of you. You can telepathically communicate with any aberration in this range, or broadcast your thoughts to all aberrations within range. Aberrations receiving your broadcasted thoughts cannot respond unless they possess their own means of telepathy.

The robe holds 3 charges. As an action, you can expend 1 charge to project illusory duplicates of yourself, much like the mirror image spell. However, these images are imbued with eldritch energy. If an attacker targets you with an attack and hits one of the illusory duplicates instead, that attacker takes 1d10 psychic damage as a backlash of the disrupted eldritch image. The robe regains all expended charges daily at dawn. If you're not of aberrant nature and use the robe's illusory power in regions deeply connected to the eldritch realms or otherworldly depths, roll a d6. On a roll of 1 or 2, you draw the attention of an aberration of CR 11 or lower (GM's discretion). This entity might be intrigued or threatened by the robe's power, leading to unpredictable encounters. If this aberration deems the robe significant, it might attempt various methods to procure the Threads of the Eldritch Depths for itself.
