Wall Decals
My solution of looking against the wallpaper where the separated wooden gutter has been placed on, is a grid wall decal which fits perfectly inside this hole and makes it to look a bit more realistic.

I've made 3 different wall decals from which you can choose the one you like the most.

Wall Hole (Window without glass)
Another thing I'm trying, is to use a basegame window and remove it's glass, so you look straight through this part of the wall into the wooden tank behind the wall. But I have some problems with it, so not sure if this will become a second option to 'hide' the wallpaper.
