Hello all,
An update of what I've been up to the last couple days.
First of all, I haven't checked any of the Cottage Living's objects yet, neither did I check it's new world. The reason for that, is because I was too busy taking a look at the new pond tool and finding out how the 'visible in Build mode but invisible in Live mode objects have been made.
New VFX Codes
But first the new vfx codes added with the pond tool update and Cottage Living EP. I found 1397 new vfx codes! I do have to say that only a small part of them are probably useable for mods, but as I haven't tested any of them yet, I don't really know.
Pond vfx spawner objects not showing problem (solved now luckely)
A lot of the new vfx spawner objects from the new Pond tool category weren't working in my game, like the croc, swans, turtles and musquitos. While only keeping my own mods in, it still didn't work! Turned out it was caused by a vfx list override I once made while playing with the vfx tool. It first gave me a heartattack discovering it was a problem with one of my own mods. Luckely though not a released one. This did cost me a lot of time which I could have been spending on more useful things probably 😅.
Mods that need updating
As you might already noticed when visiting the new Pond Tool categories, almost all of my pond related mods can't be found in the catalog anymore as those categories have been removed and replaced by others.
This counts for Pool Water Recolors, Fountains, Waterfalls, Invisible Animal Spawners, Object Animal Spawners and probably a few more that I forgot. I hope to be able to update them all, but I need an update from Sims4Studio to be able to do that.
A few of them can still be found in the decoration's misc section, like the Waterfall, Water Reed + Pond animals and Water reed + Dragonflies mods for example. Although for this last one the catch interaction isn't working anymore.
Visible in Build mode > Invisible in Live Mode
As for a lot of my older mods counts that I want to make them work like EA's visible in Build Mode an invisible in Live Mode objects. And TwistedMexi asked me a few days ago if I already discovered how they work. As I didn't took a loot at it back then, I tried to discover it together with him. So while both looking at the objects and trying different things, we found what exactly made them to work like this. At that point I thought, yes, problem solved! But unfortunately it isn't solved yet. Although I succesfully made the desert lizard's second swatch (The one showing the lizard) to be visible in build mode and invissible in Live mode, the effect of the lizard itself wasn't visible at all! I've also tried to clone one of the new objects and changed the effect, but for some unknown reason it won't show. Maybe whenever Sims4Studio has been updated, a solution might appear too.
Upcoming Poll
As I'm still not quite sure if I also want to add my other non pond related vfx (object) spawners to the new categories too, I will probably make a public poll about that later this week to ask what the community thinks would be the best to do.
For now I think this is enough for this update. More news if I have it! :)
