Another Update on the Mod-Update process! (Patreon)
Content
Which I hoped for in my former post has actually happened! I was able to fix the newer mods too! 😎
It seems it got to do with the bump/normal map as they seem to guide the game where the snow layer has to be visible.
For my newest mods I imported very small versions of those to make the size of the mod as small as possible. When untagging the "never recieve snow" tags, so they will recieve snow, I noticed that those bump maps were visible as dark grey texture with a question mark when taking a look at the object in game. In almost all cases the question mark means there's something wrong with the texture size.
So what I did was import new bump maps, this time by using the diffuse textures, which have the right size, and deleting all there is on this texture to get a blank bump map.
Importing those back into the package file and again checking the "never recieve snow"tag did the trick!
So right now all my invisible object mods have been fixed.
The only thing left to do now, is updating all links on MTS and on YouTube.. 😴
And of course I would like to make a video so everyone in the community knows exactly which objects have been updated. I will only give a short explaination for each mod, so people not aware of those mods get a little bit of info and the people that are aware of those mods, just know which needs to be re-downloaded.
WATER REEDS + MUSHROOM
For the water reeds objects that didn't recieve snow I now probably know what's the problem. Instead of using the bump maps as a guide for the game where to put the snow layers, this object has separate textures for fall and winter. But as they can't be simply added to the object like a normal texture, it's like a whole lot of work to add them to my excisiting package files and probably even more work to re-do them from scratch.
So I won't be changing those right now too. Maybe if Studio makes it less time consuming or I have more time I will take a look at it again.
The Amanita Muscaria which didn't recieve snow either probably needs the same textures, but as the original alien mushroom didn't had those either I'm not quite sure. The reason the original alien mushroom doesn't have them, is because they only "grow" inside a secret cave where there's no seasonal changes.
More info on the mod-updates will follow soon!
