Matt and a friend and I are skipping out from work early to go celebrate the close of the Kickstarter at our favorite BBQ joint. Traditionally we go there, just the two of us, for dinner when our book crowdfunding campaign closes, but there is no way I can sit still that long and be productive for the rest of the day, so we’re shaking up our ritual this time.
This has been, by far and away, the most overwhelmingly successful Kickstarter we’ve ever had in the five years since we started publishing our books this way. I’m just stunned. We’ve never had anywhere near this many people (2,994!) pledge this much money ($85,793?!?!?!?) for anything we’ve ever made. Ever. Ever Ever Ever.
There are some words that get reused after everybody’s crowdfunding campaign: grateful. humbled. stunned. They’re cliché. But. They’re the only words I’ve got to express how deeply grateful and humbled and stunned I genuinely feel right now.
I’m tapping this out on my phone as I ride the bus to the BBQ joint. How do I say “thank you” in a way that will capture the way I mean it, the way I feel it in my heart?

Thank you.
Thank you to everyone who has ever shared a kind message with me about our comics. Thank you to everyone who has spent any money financially supporting any aspect of the Oh Joy Sex Toy project. Since we launched the comic five years ago it has been free to read online, so any and every time someone has chosen to back our efforts with actual cash, I just, I see it, I appreciate it, I don’t take it for granted.
What an experience. What a validation this Kickstarter has been. What a thing.
Thank you.
