The second half of this season is IMO a lot stronger than the first, which seems to me to be pretty clearly hamstrung by choices that Nick made. "S1, ok we have to speed run character development, and the producers want Korra to end up with someone, so fine, Mako. Wait, now we're getting another season? Where to we go from here? Ok, backtrack a little over the first half of the season, get rid of Makorra (since we never really wanted that anyway), and then get to the good stuff and move to S3 from there, the really good stuff" seems to be more or less what happened.

I actually enjoyed book2 (minus severing the past avatar connection)(thats kind of a core staple of this avatar universe so don't know why the writers took that away). all the spirit stuff is connected to The last airbender... remember that the Guru in Book2 of the last airbender told Aang that to master the avatar state, he had to master his own spirit(hence the cosmic scene of Aang on the space rainbow bridge. That giant silhouette of Aang wasn't the avatar spirit, it was Aang's spirit. Then in Book3, the lion turtle told Aang before time, they bent not elements, but the inner spirit and when Aang took Firelords bending there was that giant Orange, blue light show....Fast forward to Korra, Tenzin has her in the tree of time, she bends her inner spirit, Giant light show battle with Vaatu. baada BOOM.

I love that the past Avatar connection is gone. Dont get me wrong it suck's in universe but now Koraa can try and figure things out herself instead of having to go ask her past lives. And there nothin said that she wont end up being the first past life for the next Avatar

Korra wouldn't have asked her past lives....First, she isn't "Ms. Spiritual" which she admits herself in book 1. Secondly, even after she gained access to the avatar state and Aang gave her bending back, she never saught her past lives for consel through the entire book2! she was force fed the past avatars when she lost her memory.

So glad you guys enjoyed season 2 so much! It was actually really fun to watch again through your eyes as I've never been the most keen on it but really enjoyed it while watching along! Like most people here, S3 is my fave as well as S1 so I'm so excited for whats avout to happen!!! 👀👀 Woop 😁
