From the moment the film begins, it becomes evident that Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a film like no other. Edgar Wright's distinctive directorial style shines through with rapid-fire editing, kinetic camera movements, and a vibrant visual palette that draws heavily from the comic book medium. The seamless blend of live-action, video game aesthetics, and comic book sensibilities creates an immersive and exhilarating experience from start to finish.

Michael Cera delivers an awesome performance as the lovable yet flawed Scott Pilgrim. His awkward charm and deadpan delivery are perfectly suited for the character, capturing both his insecurities and determination. The supporting cast, including Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers and Kieran Culkin as Scott's sarcastic roommate, provide memorable performances that add depth and humor to the story. And seeing Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brandon Routh, Thomas Jane and Brie Larson we awesome as well!

This films seems to celebrate video games, music, comics, and pop culture references with infectious enthusiasm. We are sure there this is loaded with easter eggs. Wright's attention to detail in recreating the visual language of video games and comic books is truly impressive. The movies themes of love, self-discovery, and personal growth. While the narrative may seem whimsical and fantastical on the surface, it delves into relatable emotions and struggles. The film balances its comedic moments with genuine heartfelt scenes, allowing the characters to evolve and mature as they face their personal demons.

The soundtrack of the film deserves special mention as it becomes an integral part of the storytelling. With an eclectic mix of indie rock and catchy tunes, the music enhances the energy and rhythm of the film, amplifying the emotions and driving the action forward.

Feels like we should do a rewatch and get to know more of the lore. Overall, fun film for not knowing anything about this world.

I thought this was coming out yesterday! But I'll take it on a Saturday! Haha they're also making an animated version and the ENTIRE cast is coming back and reprising their roles!

Fun fact about the Chris Evans coffee cup shot: it was actually hot coffee in the cup and he had quite a bad burn for a while

Shane Kolaga

Yep! They all announced it on their socials. They loved making it and formed a pretty good bond and were all genuinely excited to come back to this world!

the first movie I saw with Chris Evans was Not Another Teen Movie, so it was so weird to me to see him go from that film, to being Captain America lol (There was so many NATM and Cpt America/Avenger crossover memes with it too lol), so his role in this movie reminded me of that that film, and really would love to see him in more "silly" and "ridiculous" roles. This was a fun movie though

Yes, that was Brie Larson singing. The band Metric did the song, and they actually did release the full version with her on vocals.

Ana

Yaaaay one of my favorite movies

If you love Chris Evans as a bad you should check out Tha Gray Man on Netflix. Good action movie with Ryan Gosling vs Chris as protagonist and antagonist.

As you guys have probably deduced by now, yes this is just a different kind of world. They kind of downplayed Scott in the movie but in the original graphic novels, he was already known for being a good fighter and getting into shenanigans like this. That story he told about dating Kim and fighting a giant 80 foot tall purple dude with 95 minions and so on? That actually happened to him and is actually how they started dating. Quite a few things were downplayed from the graphic novel to the film, just to make it a little more palatable for general audiences. There's a lot of really weird things that happened in the comic book. For example, Scott fights Todd multiple times, with the first one taking place at a thrift shop with insane prices. Their job is to get from one end of the shop to the other without going crazy from the deals inside of it. Todd ends up destroying the shop with his vegan powers because he couldn't take the prices. Basically the whole story, for us, is a metaphor for relationships and the baggage that we an bring into them. In a normal movie, they would be talking about Ramona's experiences with her exes and working to heal the trauma or whatever bad habits she picked up from those relationships, but in this world Scott fights the exes in order to get to her. Scott also isn't all that great of a guy, as we see constantly throughout the movie. Cheating aside, he's pretty selfish, lazy, and narcissistic himself. That's the funny joke about Nega Scott: since Scott is an asshole, Nega Scott is his reverse so he's actually a pretty cool guy. Theres definitely a ton of easter eggs and funny references littered throughout the movie. Way too many to get into for sure. I will point out one of my favorite director decisions though: Edgar Wright insisted on having the actors only do their scene takes without blinking. He never allows anyone to blink throughout the movie. They might close their eyes us frustration or sadness, but they never blink. He did this because he wanted the scenes to look like a comic book, since people don't blink in comics. Anyway, I'm glad you guys enjoyed the movie. This was the one that put Edgar Wright on the map for me. I really love his style.

Definitely was looking forward to seeing you guys react to this one and it did not disappoint! Glad you guys enjoyed the movie, I would highly recommend checking out the graphic novels if you guys are interested in learning more about the characters as they go more in-depth. It's also a short series too as there is only 6 volumes. As someone has already mentioned, the movie downplays a lot from the books just to make it easier to digest for the general audiences. There's definitely some major differences between the two that make them unique in their own ways. It was also announced earlier this year that Scott Pilgrim will be getting an anime show on Netflix at some point with the cast of the movie returning to voice their respective characters! Hopefully you guys will react to that in the future when it releases! And lastly, Bryan Lee O'Malley's (creator of Scott Pilgrim) next graphic novel he published in 2014 named 'Seconds', was announced last year to also be getting a movie adaptation at some point. Edgar Wright has also written the script for this movie as well but it will be directed by Blake Lively!

Passion, oh so much passion!

Mae Whitman, who plays the evil ex Roxy Richter, is also the voice of Katara from Avatar the Last Airbender. She does a lot of voice work for animated projects. Great reaction! I remember when this movie first came out, the last volume of the graphic novel had just come out a few months prior. It was pretty great seeing something to adapted so well. You don't really get that hardly ever.

I would love to see them react to that movie! It is one of the most underrated parody films! It's so stupid but genuinely funny and he along with the rest of the cast is hilarious and it's so much fun to see where he started to where he is now, along with some of the other cast members.

Annie519

Oh man, he's the reason I watched it. I had been dying to see him as a villain since Knives Out, he has played another villain in the movie The Iceman, he was brutal in that one. But you can tell he had a blast in The Gray Man, he was my favorite part!

This and Scary Movie. My aunt took my siblings and I to watch it in theatres. We thought it was just a comedy. Oh boy. We were absolutely no where near the age appropriate to watch those films lol. I can almost see how they'd react to just the opening for Not Another Teen Movie, what an opener lol. Everyone is great, but I'll never not see the banana Chris Evans lol. Or the line, "You have your mothers eyes" lol

Tabatha Cat

They originally filmed two versions of the ending. Here's a link to the alternative one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Gx7b80gHjg I think I like the one they went with better. I enjoyed watching this with you.
