Alright y'all... who still plays any Mario today? Anyone still play on the original Nintendo?

My first console was Nintendo 64, which I still have and actually still works. Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Pokémon, Star Wars games, Blitz 2000, and Sarge were my favorite games. Good memories.

It's. About. Time!!! Work is about to get way more fun today. Edit: just finished the reaction. Great stuff guys. It's really awesome just watching how something can transform fully grown men into gushing kids just excited about their favorite game. I know I had the biggest grin possible on my face from the first moment that the 8-bit Mario music came on for the Nintendo logo. I went to go see this in theaters twice, once in 3-d on opening night and once with my friends in enhanced audio format. I figured the animation would lend itself well to 3-d, but it wasn't anything special. The enhanced audio was incredible though, especially with this phenomenal soundtrack. I can't imagine a more envious job than being a composer and having a company ask you to compose the soundtrack for a movie based on your favorite childhood game. I loved all the variations and subtle hints of past Mario game soundtracks. I was always a huge fan of the live action Mario movie, even though I know it isn't actually that good, but yes this is 100% how you do a Mario movie. After the great success it's had, I know Nintendo is going to greenlight more of them, and hopefully more properties beyond just Mario. They really got burned by the commercial failure of the live action movie, but making over 1 billion dollars goes a long way to healing that. By the way guys, there's only 2 animated movies that have outearned this one at the box office: The Lion King remake and Frozen 2. It broke the record for highest grossing animated movie box office weekend, and it's one of the top 20 box office earners of all time. You just KNOW Nintendo is loving all of that success.

Watching this was so weird. I saw it a couple weeks after it came out and it was just me alone in the theater on a weekday evening, but then I just saw it again with someone and the theater was packed, even the front section!

This was fun but I thought the story was pretty underwhelming. Surprised to see it get 5's across the board but I'm glad you guys liked it! Your enthusiasm made my first watch even better.
