The Haunting of Bly Manor 1x6 FULL REACTION

This episode had a lot happen! We get a lot of info about the parents and the Uncle. What a twist that was. We now have better understanding with the phone calls and why the Uncle is the way he is. Dani just finds herself in some bad spots. She tries to make things less awkward between her and Jamie. That ending though! Wowzers!

Been looking forward to this, I've watched all the paranormal activities, and now on Insidious 3. You guys got me back into the horror/thriller movies.

Such a good episode. Something is definitely possessing Miles. I wonder if Flora lured her down there because possessed Miles promised her he'd help her with her thoughts/passing out/blacking out, moments? That creepy smile uncle version, reminds me of the creepy ''smile'' film smiles - they freaked me out too! Its good to see more of Jamie's story though. I like her. Roll on next weeks one! Good discussion at the end too guys. I think Hannah's a ghost too. Jamie and Owen I'm unsure of. I have a theory regarding Dani, but I won't say just yet in case I'm wrong lol

Flora says a lot in that last bit on her bed. “I’m tired of being tucked away” “I’m tired of acting weird like miles”. Next episode answers a lot about that. We are now heading into the “answer” episodes. And yes, everything has a purpose. Can’t wait to see your reactions. I’m already seeing in my head your excitement about reveals coming up.

I hope it’s not considered spoilers to just remind you guys of things you may have forgotten but feel free not to read on if so, but I also can’t really remember much of the future episodes other than one scene in like episode 8 or 9, it’s been a while so I don’t even think I could spoil much lol! So we actually did get confirmation that Jamie can leave the manor in episode 5. She drives Owen home on the way back to her flat after the little get together outside when she leaves Bly in a huff after the kiss. Hannah chases the car down which is when we discover the fog around the manor for Hannah. We also know that Miles could leave as he was in the boarding school before returning back to Bly.

I don't think Henry keeping Dominic's passing from official correspondents was meant to indicate he was up to illegal stuff, I think it was just to demonstrate that he is currently fleeing everything that reminds him of the consequences of his actions. As his alter ego says " with every notice you send out the world where you can pretend your brother is still alive gets smaller and smaller..." He drinks to forget, he sleeps in his office and is "banished" there, I think even his neglect of the children he sees as punishment for himself. I think the fake funeral just refers to what Flora also said " they had to bury empty boxes." I think whatever the accident was, there just weren't any bodies to retrieve. Also, Dominic said to him " You get to keep the office" and the law firm was called Wingrave & Wingrave, so I don't think he's completely broke, since he seemed to be a partner- we know Peter stole "a quarter mil" but by the looks of it he seems to be much more well off than that. Fun fact- the Jolly Corner is a short story by Henry James in which a business man starts to become haunted by his own alter ego :D

Kong skull island when?

Diamond Dave pointing out how Jaime's monologue felt like the one in Hill House, yes! It also made me think of the "nothingness" speech from Theo and the speech Nelly gave at the end, but it also reminded me of another monologue from Midnight Mass. Mike Flanagan seems to be a fan of perpetually philosophical monologues. I hope you all will checkout that show as well.

In this episode, while the parents' story unfolds, we are prone to think that the accident was the uncle's fault (it is a horror story, after all! he must have done something!). And there's the genius writing: the actual truth was not as "simple" and predictable as murd*r stories usually are in horror movies. Henry's guilt was of another, more complex kind. The truth behind it was about betrayal, relentless lies, confrontation, loss. And it was much more impactful! Watching this wreck of a man living in a loop of denial, depression and madness reveals how guilt can destroy someone's life..any guilt. The pain I felt while watching was too much; it was a brilliant episode! I love your observations, and Oak waiting for a jump scare kills me every time!! Plus, I'd like to know Mason's skin care: FLAWLESS ahah. Lova ya guys (sorry for the weirdly long comment, it's 2 am and English is not my first language).
