The way this was shot was absolutely fantastic! And those freaking jump scares!!! The dynamic of grieving was great to see. Glad they touched on it. Because everyone grieves differently. They tease us with Theo and Kevin and teasing us that Shirley might have had an affair??? So much happened and might need to rewatch this one again.

It was an honor to work with Mike on this episode. Even more of an honor to watch you react. The reason you didn’t see any cuts is because there were none. He built the two sets (The Hill House, and the Funeral Home) Back to Back knowing this episode was coming. The rain effects were all real water on the set, The broken glass was the only thing cgi-in, lighting was all tested for 3 weeks before hand, everyone knew exactly where they were supposed to be at exactly what second. Body doubles, background ghosts, young actors, a lot could’ve gone wrong- and nothing did. The longest take is just over 19 minutes of not only superb acting but also superb camera work, mood lighting, and staging. I truly believe this episode and the final episode are what made this series what it is today.

Oh yeah, I part-time for Netflix as a Stagehand when they need it. I was only used when this episode was being filmed, but it was still around 3 weeks. Timing of extras entering and exiting, statues being moved, making sure the marks weren’t noticeable, testing the lightning appearance, testing mood lighting etc,. The set even flooded two times because the rain noise is absolutely real. Again, it was an honor. I am looking forward to seeing your reactions to the finale.

One of my favorite episodes! Definitely my fav from a film maker standpoint. Loved it so much the 3rd time around & all your reactions 🤘 Also, the table in front of y’all echoes when you move sometimes and the timing helps the eerie-ness 😆🔥

Will never be a time I think where I won't cry when I watch this episode. The jumps scares get me cause y'all are getting me lmao

Every time Nell says that final line, that nobody could see her, I just cry. She wanted them to come together for once and all they could do was argue. I love this show so much and all of the layers that are in the story is fantastic. Glad you guys are enjoying it!

This whole episode is a masterpiece of cinematography. The whole episode is only 5 shots, the longest being 17 minutes long. The shut down production for a whole month to rehearse. I am extremely impressed with how well the adult actors did, but also the children actors as well. The fact this series and/or this episode alone never was even nominated for an Emmy blows my mind. Also, a fun fact there was some mess ups within the shots, and you can barely even notice them, because that’s how good the actors were at staying in their roles, which made it even more realistic. For example, some actors such as Shirley stumbled on her words. The younger Hugh stepped on a piece of the chandelier and when Theo went to sit on the edge of the couch and fell and Kevin and Luke ran to help her up, that wasn't part of the script, and they just kept going. “I was here the whole time. I was screaming and nobody could see me." I feel that this is a metaphor, not only for Nell, but for all of them. They are so busy dealing with their own trauma, that none of them seem to see each other. Nell had to put buttons on her eyes and push her coffin over just to try and get them to stop fitting. The final image of Nell's ghost with her kid self-talking in the background is such a great combination of horrifying and sorrowful. It's so tragic that it never fails to make me tear up or cry. Also I think you guys picked up on it but yes the five children represent the five stages of grief. Steve,The Writer--Denial, Shirley, The Undertaker--Bargaining, Theo, The Empath--Anger, Luke, The Addict--Depression and Nell The "Suicide"--Acceptance. Can’t wait to continue the second part of the journey with you guys! It truly only keeps getting better from here. Slowing putting the puzzle pieces together on what truly happened at Hill house.

Don't forget to pay attention to the statues. Their heads will actually turn to look at people walking through the house between shots. It's very subtle, but when you notice, it makes it so unnerving.

Cubonemaker

Don't worry guys. The last episode does not disappoint, AT ALL.

I feel like we shouldn't have told you about the background ghosts because you guys get more focused on that rather than what's in the forefront haha. I think the ghosts in the background are there to increase the creepiness and unsettling feelings when you watch some scenes, but it's not really the central part of the story. Also now that we basically have all 5 children's perspective, I think you guys can figure out what stage of grief each child represents 👀 I also really liked how we got Steve's perspective on everything that went down and I feel like you guys missed it but he talked time and time again in this episode about mental illness running through the family, especially since he's the only one who never saw or witness anything creepy back in the house

You guys should definitely see the featurette Netflix did on episode 6, it's truly amazing how they managed to shoot the long shots

Nells final line in this episode is always gut wrenching for me. “I was here the whole time. I was screaming and nobody could see me." Not just as a child but adult Nell felt that to her bones. She showed out at Steves book signing but he just blamed her for being crazy yet didnt help her. She talked to Theo about her grief but Theo was just upset that she wanted to use her gift and ignored Nell afterwards. Shirely didnt answer. She drove Luke to rehab and it was only about Luke. She spent her whole life not asking for anything for herself that when she finally got Steve on the phone she asked about Luke. Whether they meant to or not everyone of her siblings pushed her away or didnt see her.

Where can that be seen? On YouTube? It's not on Netflix, unless I am not looking in the correct place.

Stayed up until 6am just to catch up and worth it because this episode is such a masterpiece. Have to agree with the sentiments from some others about the background ghosts and non essential moving of statues and things like that: yes they are a lot of fun to try and find, but they are also not essential to the story overall other than the obvious ones like in this episode with the mother seeing them or Nell just ominously behind the siblings in the funeral home. Much rather you focus on the story and forefront itself because there’s a lot to be missed if you don’t, and then release a special on the background ghosts sightings if you feel like it which could be fun! There’s plenty of videos showing all of the ghosts in each scene once you’ve finished with the series to choose from. Love the content, amazing as always!😊

We definitely need to see what first we have missed. 😂 I'm sure there was a handful.

Claybee

Yeah there’s quite a few I noticed. I was amazed it took so long for you to notice Nell in the funeral home scene, I was cracking up waiting for you guys to notice and the reaction when you did was great 🤣 my favourite reaction channel by far which is why I had to become a patron!
