Jordan Peele... this dude is great! We can only imagine what goes on in that head of his. The actors and crew did fantastic in this. When it comes to Jordan Peele we are always looking or trying to look at everything to see if it matters. This was definitely a wild ride. Looking forward to what you all have to say about this one.

This movie was wild. Very interesting.

As an avid Jordan Peele supporter I approve this reaction, lol. But seriously, it’s so interesting to have witnessed his movies as they released. Us & Nope both had much more divisive reactions/reviews when they came out and imo that’s simply because their themes are subtler and harder to grasp than Get Out on first watch. All three of his films so far have been brilliant to me. Even though it’s frustrating to see some people bomb a movie they clearly didn’t understand it’s worth it. I love that Peele doesn’t hold the audience’s hands through everything.

So every Jordan Peele movie is a social commentary. I could be wrong but what I gather from this movie is 2 things. 1. As Daniel’s character said, “all animals have rules.” People tend to attribute human characteristics unto animals that don't think or behave like we do. And as a horse caretaker, OJ understands this. Don’t shove a mirror in a horse’s face, don’t make a sudden loud noise near a chimp, don't look at a predator dead in the eye or they’ll freak out. 2. Animal exploitation in the entertainment industry is often motivated by money and/or recognition for something that's never been done before. And as shown in the movie, this can result in people and animals getting hurt or killed. Also, Jordan reminded me of how huge of a role "eyes" play between predators and prey. Fun fact, lots of butterflies have circle patterns that resemble eyes to keep predators away. Great reaction as usual!

I think this movie is also about how we love spectacles as a society. 1) Instead of seeking mental help, Jupe turned his trauma into a commerce and sacrificed horses given by OJ just to have an attraction. He didn’t learn his lesson about how animals can’t be tamed and that was his downfall 2) the director who died by trying to get the impossible shot even though he knew it would kill him 3) the TMZ reporter who franticly searched for his camera to get the scoop, even though all of his bones were literally broken 4) and also us, as the audience. I don’t know about you guys, but during the scenes with the chimp Gordy, I kept wanting to see more of what was happening even though I knew exactly what the chimp was doing to these people on the set. But the fact that Jordan Peele dedicated a whole sequence to this event and only filmed it in a way where we don’t see much left me wanting more. Then I realized, that was exactly the point. As people, we always want to look even though we know it might be horrible or it might kill us (the latter is the case in this movie) I had to watch it twice to fully appreciate the meaning behind the movie, but I really love it now !!

I was already a fan of Peele before seeing this movie, but this (imo) was my favorite of his films so far. The sound design, the cinematography (those night scenes, MY GOD), the flawless way the comedy weaved in with the story..... it was EXCELLENT!!! I love how Peele explored the theme of 'spectacle' and how we are drawn to it no matter the cost or affect it can have. Naming one of our main characters O.J., even pointing it out in the dialogue, which irl was one of the biggest media spectacles of all time. In the Jupe storyline with Gordy's Home incident, this was especially important to add to the movie's theme. Jupe's misunderstanding of the incident, whether unknowingly or made out of his trauma after the fact, was his downfall in the end. Thinking he survived the attack because he was somehow special or had an ability to tame a wild animal. Not sure if you noticed but he even quietly says to himself during his Star Lasso Experience speech, "You're chosen." But in reality the only reason Jupe likely survived the Gordy attack was because his eyes were hidden behind the tablecloth so he wasn't seen as a threat to the chimp. And instead of dealing with his trauma he decides to exploit the Gordy's Home incident for money and try again with the alien in Agua Dulce! AN UNKNOWN ALIEN ENTITY!! 🤦‍♀️It cost not only his life but the lives of all those poor people.....including that poor girl who survived Gordy! Even our main characters were in it for the money. Though we feel more connected to them and cheer them on because of how them and their family's legacy was/still is pushed aside instead of celebrated as it should've been. So we want them to win in the end because it's that legacy that drives them, not greed. I originally saw this in Dolby at the theater and WOW!! those scenes like the alien fakeout and Gordy incident..... you could feel the tension in the air! It was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, it made for an EXCELLENT first viewing. That sound design in Dolby..... 💋*chef's kiss!! I'm so glad y'all enjoyed this one. I couldn't wait to watch it again and see y'alls reactions..... and you didnt disappoint!🤘🏻

2023-02-11 00:06:39 AWESOME reaction, guys!!! This was my first time watching it too & thought the *exact* same thing with Travis the chimp attacking his owner (back in 2009 🤯). So, some are saying that this film is a commentary on the Hollywood film industry and it’s super interesting - even connecting the shape of the mouth of the alien to that of the look of the 1st camera. If y’all wanna know more about that take, Heavy Spoilers breaks that down well. Keep up the great work 🤘Hope y’all have a wonderful Thanksgiving week!!
