Hello, hello, here we go! 🥳🥳

LFG

Ian

Let's gooo

Conor Moriarty

Thanks for brightening my day

hman70

This is definitely an episode worth subbing to a patreon for :D

Kieran

The music in this episode and the way the episode was put anime high up on my radar I've only watched like 5 but it just left me speechless yet hyped🤣

krai

AoT enjoyers letsgoo

Abby Austin

just going to get ahead of this and say in advance: the length of the cold open recaps is GREATLY improved in the later seasons. they probably seem like an unnecessary slog right now, and i agree, but they use all their time to the fullest extent in the future, fret not

Marbelis

1rst season was released on 2013. 2nd season 2017. 3rd was divine between 2018 and 2019. The final season was divine 2020, 2022 and 2023. It was a long wait. …… Btw the creator was about 19 years old when he started working on AOT.

MRMOONHEAD

I don’t know if you guys have filmed the finale of season 1 but there is a short POST CREDIT SCENE that’s important to watch in the last episode of season 1

krai

When The Oak got hyped with Eren's transformation 🔥

Rhyea Sunshine

Please dont apologize for people being rude. Yall are having fun and alot of us enjoy watching you. Some people take everything so serious constantly. Keep up fun work ❤️

Jen Garcia

Looooving the discussion, you guys! This is the most animated I’ve seen you all and the theories are so entertaining! Much love from the Philippines!

J Knight

It sucks that someone spoiled the show for you Dave :( The good thing is that the show is still amazing even if you know all the answers 😃 Still, a good thing for everybody to remember is that you should only answer questions they ask if it's already been explained and they missed it. Telling them to "remember this and that" is absolutely spoilery because every time you do it you basically tell them the answer. They'll "remember" when it's time to remember as they watch the show, naturally 🥹

Faiza

Can people just not mention anything in the comment section regarding the plot anymore - these guys seem to theorise a lot and even if you mention something you deem to be inconsequential, chances are that with some thinking they can be very easily spoiled. Even commenting on things they may have missed in the episodes they've watched takes away from the overall intrigue/shock of finding stuff out so please no more plot comments!! Just let them find out as they go - imagine the reactions!

Ivan Rasmussen

This episode is so great! This show does do a lot of inner dialogue which I sometimes like but I also wish they wouldn't do it in the middle of action sequences lol

Jessep

after finishing an episode don't be afraid to go rewatch a part that you want to watch again, or get more context into, it helps alot and it's understandable that you can miss details in some fast paced episodes

Ushna Seeam

Omg, I'm not going to say which ones, but some of your theories are. Right. On. The. Money. 😮 This is why I love listening to first time watchers' discussions, different people get different things right and different things wrong, it's so interesting. Btw, was The Oak referring to Pacific Rim when mentioning the machines that had to be piloted by 2 humans? Because if so, those machines are called "Jaegers", and Eren's last name is...Jaeger. 🫢 Might be on to something there! 😂 And finally, to Diamond Dave's question of when do we find out all the things that Titans can do, the answer is, "Gradually." 😁 The joy's in the journey!

Smuckfuzzer

They had to keep from catching up to the comic. The four years gave it plenty of time to get way farther ahead of the anime.

Sasha

Yea I saw the comment and my thought was I hope you are not looking at the comment section while in an arc or have a mod to thouroughly check through all the comments. AOT fans are notorious for spoiling, even unintentionally because they tend to lead reactors to the right plot and give hints / correct theories. Sadly, this might not be the last time. But we love your reactions and theories! Hope you are all enjoying the journey so far!

L AH

I’ve been spoiled one important part of the ending when I was watching season 2, but didn’t have the context nor all the other answers so you’ll still be entertained DD ! Just, I know it’s important for you guys to interact with your community, but either get a moderator or stop looking at comments on here and YT, it’s full of tiny details that can give you guys some answers. Also, you guys should look away at the opening and ending starting from season 2, it’s full of spoilers. Excited for the last 5 episodes 🔥

Neh

AoT was so big it literally made anime mainstream, but the studio took time to release the next season due to waiting for the original source chapters (the manga) to release more chapters so the studio could continue animating the show and adapting it’s true source.

Marbelis

To answer oak question. The manga was first published in 2009 and finished in 2021 while the anime started in 2013-2023. The creator Hajime was releasing his work at the same time as working with the writers and producers of the anime so it took some time.

Gigi

So the manga started in 2009 and the chapters were being released once a month by the creator, Hajime Isayama who was 19 at the time. S1 of Attack on Titan came out in April of 2013 and only covered chapters 1–34, there were only 44 chapters released at that time. So that’s why they had to wait for more chapters to be released to make another season.

krai

Don't worry cause Dave usually strolls to the end of the episode to see if there's anything

Kevin

Most people explained the timeline of the show release with the Manga release, so I just want to add that Isayama had already planned out the entire story all the way through the last episode of S4. So you don’t need to worry about any point where the writer might have to grasp for straws to write another season or anything, everything was planned in advance. This also allows for the absolute insane amount of foreshadowing and clues spread throughout the early seasons, which you’ll be able to fully appreciate once you finish it all.

Vadim

The royal dude you guys met in the first few episodes wasn't THE king. He is an aristocrat who owns a domain of land.

Zara Abenemi

i wish people would not be so hyperactive in their commenting, the guys will find things out as they go! like everyone else did! even just telling them to 'remember xxxx' can lead them into figuring things out, we love their reactions because its like seeing how we felt watching for the first time, i really hope people don't ruin it. Another great reaction by the way

krai

Poor Dave had to catch all the spoily comments. Good thing the other folks don't read us!

szeth

That dialect thing might have been me sorry. I just meant that it is not a big deal and you can say it however you want in response to someone telling you the pronunciation Aaron is wrong. If you wanna say it how they do idrc lol ofc do what you want I wasn't trying to say one needs to happen.

Anna Ramirez

Exactly what I was thinking. I went into aot with no background knowledge and I did just fine. I can never get to experience it for the first time again, so it’s awesome to experience it through them!

Shae (maorismurf)

I'm so hyped to watch these next two reactions! I'm at work right now, so I have to wait, but the wait is KILLING me! I started watching AOT BECAUSE of you guys and I became a patron BECAUSE of AOT! I binged the entire show in about 2 weeks and it's so bloody good.

Hippopi

That’s what the anime slow motion time is for 😛

Alexis Joy

Kickass reaction as always, lots of great discussion! On the spoiler topic, maybe moderation would be helpful, this show is huge, has a massive community, as well as unfortunately, people who love to ruin the suspense for others. Questions are good and don’t need clarification as AoT answers pretty much everything in time, and to echo the comment around small details, 100%. Sure, plot points are overt spoilers, but spoilers can be subtle too, like telling someone to focus on a detail, remember a specific plot point, overly hype an episode, asking leading questions, telling them they’ll grow to love a character or they don’t understand a character yet or even correct a theory— all of these can spoil the experience. It’s one thing if they go back over episodes combing for details and theory crafting, it’s another if they just are along for the ride, but regardless what they notice is what THEY notice. Everyone engages in media differently and mystery is a HUGE part of AoT and a lot of the things people like to point out are only meaningful in retrospect, so let the journey unfold as organically as possible, I watched/read this from the beginning and i think people forget how insane and confusing elements of this story were as it was releasing

Fatipapi

never thought id look forward to mondays this much lmaoo

Alex

Aot has gigantic fandom so unfortunately, it often comes with a bunch of assholes, it's like a package deal. They think people reacting to this show now should know and understand everything while they probably had to watch 100+ youtube essays and rewatch the show multiple times to notice all the foreshadowings that arent meant to be noticed on the first watch. You are doing great guys, truly. :) Best to get a moderator for overeager people and ignore those whose only passion is to be nitpicky.

Fatipapi

@oak this was definitely not a stand-alone season and later added onto hahaha, you'll understand why after youve seen the post credit scene at the end of episode 25. Also, when u guys finish the entire show and were to rewatch season 1, you'll see tiny hints on stuff revealed way later inn the show. Isayama, the writer of the story, is a literal genius and has thought of stuff soooo far ahead!

Abigail.M

Guys don't worry about the comments, and have fun! This is a fantastic show, and I can't wait to see what you guys think going forward!

Elizabeth Green

I look forward to these reacts every week! Next week hopefully the remaining 3 😁. Season 3 has less episodes so season 4 is coming fast and I can’t wait!

Sanji Sama

Always annoying seeing comments that are trying to be clever with their spoilers. So sad you got spoiled.

Ana

Oh no I haven't watched yet. But you were spoiled 😩 smh people gotta learn to zip it. I know it's hard because they're excited but still it sucks

Stray

I would definitely suggest some sort of moderation team overlooking comments in the future if you dont already have that in mind. The AOT fan base is extremely toxic and loved to spoil the story for non Manga readers, granted its a very few individuals.

Gabriel P.

Like a lot of people have said - highly recommend a moderator.

Libarax

Charlie Hunnam knows.... he knows.

Merielle

Finally home from work, so excited to watch!

Ashtail Foxclaw

Yea people just have to stop drawing attention to any details in general. A lot of details are meant to be so minute that you won't catch them till second watch - I think a lot of people forget that.

Arudorin

yall just pay close attention and remember staff from scenesssss

Alexiani Gollarza

It took years between season and season because the team that had the TV show (anime) was small and it took them months and months to do the animation of every episode. I don't remember the amount of time but a single fight scene that happens in season 2 I think I don't remember the exact season, took about 15 days to do, and the scene is like, 7 minutes long, so yes, that's one of the reasons why. I was not a fan when season 1 came and I don't know all the details but I know that's one of the reasons.

Katryna Lavin

If you dive into any other anime’s in the future I would keep in mind waiting a long time for seasons is relatively common in the genre. Of course it has to do with the production time and what’s going on in the world to affect that, but also audience engagement & interest I believe. I’d probably recommend Fruits Basket (kinda girly), My Hero (s1 is young but show ages w audience), Black butler, Naruto & Bleach (o.g. #1s) :))) you seem to have gathered quite a number of people through AOT

CT

I honestly do not think they would enjoy fruits basket or black butler. A lot of weird themes and odd scenes with both animes

Katryna Lavin

That’s fair, I gave the signal with fruits basket lol but black butler is still kind of a classic so I didn’t bother. More than likely they’ll go with another big title like AOT if they continue the genre

CT

Oh for sure, as for your other recommendations like Naruto & MHA they would def enjoy it. I can see oak being all mights #1 fan 😂 though they said Vinland saga & jjk (I think) is on their list so I don’t think it’s happening soon . Let’s hope they do the big three eventually !

Ana

Loved the reaction. Can't wait for season 2 it has some of my fav moments of the series

Ana

I always felt like MHA would be their vibe the most. So I hope they do MHA next

Ana

@CT ugh I hope they don't do jjk next. It's overhyped to me. It is not AoT level people sell it to be

Scott Bringel

Man it's just awesome having all four of you here for such a perfect show.

XXI

Hahahahaa Aaron! They think its like Eren. Man, americans. Just follow the japanese original

a f

tbh BNHA has too much fanservice for their liking i think; it always made me cringe but it has a good story

MJK

What was spoiled? I hope not something more profound, like whole premise of the show or the end ㅠㅠ (I cannot watch this reaction for a while).

CT

@Ana Right! Ofc it’s still good but & in my top 15 but… I’m not gonna spoil but ifykyk. imo it relies too much on action and new gen hype. I call it the rebel moon of anime’s 💀

Jake Gering

I think Demon Slayer is pretty high on their list. Could be wrong tho.

BennLimos

I got spoiled on one of the most important plot twists in HxH by seeing a toy made for a certain character iirc. When I look back, seriously, why would they put out a spoilery toy lol

Sean Carroll

pretty sure they are hardly done at all in season 2, 3 and 4 or at least are greatly shortened. Season 1 opening scene recaps were way too long

Sean Carroll

can you explain the spoiler in a subtle way because from what Diamond Dave said I couldnt figure it out

Sean Carroll

any way to explain the spoiler as subtly as possible because I would like to know also what Diamond Dave was referring to

Sean Carroll

wrong. they had to wait years due to Isayama still writing the manga once a month. They needed him to get far enough ahead so that the anime didnt catch up to his writing of the manga. At the end of season 1, Isayama would have only been about halfway through season 2 per the manga chapters

Michael Bush

They had to wait for the manga to be written. They were catching up so quick they decided to wait for more to be written. Also (Not a Spoiler) pay attention to the bird motifs that happen throught the show and remember it for later.

Alexiani Gollarza

I see, so it was more or less the reason they said in the video, not quite but similar. Thanks for the answer 🙏🏻

Jesse Nash

people were disregarding a theory the boys had thought of. even if they are wrong, telling them that is a spoiler

Rena Unnie

lmfaoooo. or when you get spoiled on an irrelevant topic or show. and you just screamed into the void coz you were doing so well to avoid any content related from show A, but people spoil it for you on a show C.

Lukas Hentze

Oak getting hyped is so fun to watch

Steven Warner

MHA is next on my anime list, itd be dope to watch with Badd Medicine the first time around

Steven Warner

Demon Slayer is goated, ive seen a limited amount of anime and Demon Slayer is #2 on my list so far besides AOT, Death Note is prob #4 while Naruto is #3 (havent finished)

Steven Warner

I like how yall keep saying that every episode or 2 is so unexpected and has so many twists and turns, Diamond Dave mentioned that that wont end for the near future, it NEVER ends all the way till the final episode of the series brother. If anime shows were in question for the academy awards it would be 1. Breaking Bad 2. Attack on Titan

Katryna Lavin

Additional suggestion: Death Note (I haven’t seen all but I’ve seen a little to know it’s good, probably be more interested to watch w yall lol) & Chainsaw man is the same but got soooo much hype like 2 years ago

Fer I

After they post the last episodes I'll gladly tell you what comment she's referring to, i think i know which one it is bc it was really obvious

Magda Ch

Answer isn't mispronouncing Eren, it's Armin, sometimes he pronounces it as "Arman", just saying not complaining haha, lov ur reactions guys, hope you don't get more spoilers :'(

Hippopi

One Punch Man would probably be a good one, and it's not too long either.

TJ

was that a gurren reference?
