Hey everyone!

Just wanted to check in with everyone. Say hi to everyone who has joined recently - hi! And let you know what's up.

I've had a rotten cold these last few days, which has set me back. I did use the time well, though, as I sniffed and coughed through loads of great articles and videos (expect a bumper Reading List for November) and finished Dishonored 2.

I liked this game a lot. Like most immersive sims it takes a while to get in the groove. To figure out all the systems and get used to the slightly cumbersome controls and litany of possibilities in every situation.

But the game really lets you focus the experience on a way that works for you. I played as Corvo, and boosted various ability so, by the game's end, I could:

  • Teleport huge distances, and freeze time while deciding where to warp.
  • Possess a chain of guards, knocking them unconcious as I leap from body to body.
  • Do a drop assassination, which restores my health and mana, and become momentarily invisible before I teleport away.

And so on. Was I overpowered? A little! But the game's good at coming up with unique situations that call upon clever use of your powers and the game's inherent systems.

Dishonored 2 also has some terrific levels that I won't spoil. And turn off the obnixous floating waypoints and you get a game where you have to stake out and explore tricky locations using only your wits and the building's blueprints.

So that's cool. Reccomended.

In terms of videos, the Minish Cap video is all ready to go, just waiting for my voice to return before I record the script. I hope and plan to have it done in November. Then Playlist, and into December for game design in 2016. Thanks for all the suggestions, some fab stuff.

Right, that'll do. New stuff soon!

Get well soon Mark! And great diligence waiting until your voice returns to record. Hearing someone sick produce content just makes me feel guilty!

Seems like everyone's getting sick lately - and it's a nasty one too. Hope you feel better soon, Mark!

I've been playing Dishonored 2 as well, as Emily. I never played the first one but I'm having a really great time, aside from some learning issues early on. One thing I really like about it is how you could go right to the objective and get the levels over with really quick, but since they're so much stuff packed in everywhere you can really spend as much time as you want. Although the bonecharms could be a bit more useful.

I think you're really fortunate to have such a positive and supportive following. I can only speak for myself, but if you fell ill and found yourself unable to properly do your normal level of work on the series, I'd feel perfectly fine with you taking a week off in order to feel better. I work from home as well and know the stress and guilt of not being able to work when you're sick all too well. Bottom line: don't work yourself too hard, and delays are fine so long as the quality of the work stays as high as it always is. Feel better, bud!
