Happy New Year/Status Update (Patreon)

Hey everyone. I'm a bit late making this post but Happy New Year. I hope 2023 has been treating you well so far. I thought now would be a good time to give everyone an update on where things are at with me currently. 

I'll cut right to the chase in case you don't want to read this whole thing. A few months ago I announced that I had lost all interest in making art and was planning to quit doing it altogether. But lately I've rediscovered that I still do enjoy making art to some capacity and so I've decided that I won't be quitting outright. 

I've been feeling kind of silly looking back at the situation in retrospect. I felt like I had lost the passion to make art and I took it pretty hard, thinking that I just needed to give it all up and move on. But in the last couple of months, I've just been casually sketching stuff, not stressing too much about what others want me to draw and it's made me realize I do still enjoy drawing things.  

I've been taking it all a little bit easy in the last couple of months, just doing little sketches of things I'm interested and it's what's helped me realize that I haven't stopped enjoying drawing, but I've probably stopped enjoying treating this whole thing like a job where I'm drawing things for other people and always feeling a pressure that I have to keep making something rather than just drawing stuff because I simply want to. 

I think I'm happy to keep making art if I just keep it as a casual hobby and not treat it all any more seriously than that. I'll likely continue to post art here and there but I'll definitely be scaling things back from here on out. Just doing it purely for the fun of it and because I want to. 

If any you do still want to keep supporting me here on Patreon. I want to clarify some things so you know what to expect from me from this point onwards. I likely won't be posting as much content as I was before. There might be some months where I post some stuff but some other months where I don't post anything. I probably won't be taking requests anymore on what to draw. I'll be focusing more on drawing stuff that I want to draw. That being said though, I wouldn't be completely opposed to opening back up to taking requests again for a brief period of time at some point in the future. I just know it's not something I want to do at this moment. Overall I'll be scaling things back and doing a lot more sketchy stuff rather than making full color artworks. I'll still be interested in making some colored artworks every now and then but it'll likely become more of a rarer thing you see from me. 

I'll be making some changes to the Patreon tiers to reflect the changes that you'll be seeing from me. The $1, $3 and $10 tiers will mostly remain unchanged but I'll be changing things for the $5 tier since I'll no longer be taking requests and so I'll no longer have any sketch ups of requests to show. I'm thinking of turning it into a tier where I could show the WIP of any colored pics that I'm working on at various stages and maybe use it to post any scrapped stuff or experimental stuff like some of the animations I've made in the last few months. I'll make another post shortly after this one where I'll give more detail into what you can expect from each supporter tier from here on out.

I think I've covered just about everything I wanted to say here. I'm still going to be winding things down for me but I now no longer plan on stepping away from it all completely. I'll be sticking around but I'll be sticking around in a lot more casual way from now on. Just drawing things whenever I'm in the mood to draw something. Hopefully I'm not sounding too hokey saying this but for those of you do want to still stick around and support me. Just know it's definitely not something you need to do from here on out but I still very much appreciate it. It's incredibly kind of you.
