Queen of Farts

Please react to JFK (1991) - the greatest 3 hour historically inaccurate movie of all time! 😂

George you said you wonder what Scottish people think of this movie - I’m Scottish and I love it, as do many other Scots, but there’s certainly your fair share of people here who hate it. I couldn’t care less about the historical inaccuracies, it’s a movie made for entertainment (like Titanic including the Jack and Rose characters/story as you mentioned at the end) so I’ve never seen the big deal about it being inaccurate, personally. If you go into it looking for an educational experience then you’ll be disappointed, but that’s not why it was made lol Also, you should totally both come to Edinburgh. That’s where I’m from, we would welcome you with open arms and a pint 🍻

Wars have been started and people exterminated because of religion. It’s no small amount of imagination needed to wonder how some religious who claim to act in a God’s name people can be capable of so much cruelty and debauchery towards others.

Aside from “Man Without a Face,” every other Mel Gibson film features lots of brutality and violence so don’t go looking for a happy time in his films.

When I realize my guy sensibilities are like Simone and not George....

Merry Xmax. My wishlist for 2024 is Gattaca and Equilibrium.

OUTLAW KING (2018) is a pretty good movie showing the rest of the story, post Wallace's execution, from the perspective of Robert the Bruce. I would recommend!

I would love to see y;alls reaction to LOTR. Bring some friends. Its more about the commentary than the movie itself.

Something not mentioned in the comments was that Scotland voluntarily joined with England in 1707 as a unified country after the failure of the Darien scheme nearly bankrupted Scotland

I think that you guys would enjoy another Mel Gibson movie, that incorporates some of the vibes from the heist / organized crime milieu, is Payback. It has an ensemble cast and a mix of dark comedy, action, and drama.

It is a great movie and I love that you checked out that article at the end George. As the History Buff that I am today, the historical inaccuracies bother me a lot, but I can still appreciate it as a good movie. When I first saw it as a kid, much of those didn't bother me because I knew nothing about the place and period besides the Age of Empires 2 tutorial campaign. Medieval Scots wearing Kilts looked right to me. But there was one thing that bothered me even back then: The English costumes. They were just shit. All those dangling scales, rectangles and even circles in some scenes that the English wore where meant to look like medieval armour? I knew that was bullshit even as a child. I had a few books about knights meant for children the age 8+ and that was enough. I mean they had actors wear woolen hoodies that kind of looked like mail in closeups. Why not outfit the extras with that instead of aluminium looking mini plates visible held together by wire? That would have looked way better in wide shots and would have been closer to the truth than what they did. If Braveheart did pique your curiosity about Robert the Bruce, I second The Outlaw King as a much more historically accurate of the events following Braveheart. And it's still an enjoyable movie. Historical accuracy and entertainment are not mutually exclusive.

Edward I (Longshanks) was known as the Hammer of the Scots.
