I have a family friend whose father was a body guard for Bobby Kennedy (Bill Barry was his name) when he was assassinated. RFK went against his advice when they were in a crowded area, and got shot. There's only so much you can do. To my understanding, he never really forgave himself and went into the drink and depression afterwards.
