Good thing Pom had that heavy makeup, or I wouldn't have recognized her.

For the first half of the film I thought I was watching not only the best MI movie but one of my all-time favorite action movies. But the human villain doesn't live up to the non-human villain and having such a non-entity (pun-intended) be the one who kills off one of the main protagonists feels so anti-climactic. I still think it's a fantastic movie. The action scenes are brilliantly directed. The Entity feels so timely it really feels like a horror. Pom's henchman is a menace straight from hell. But Gabriel? The entire series has had an issue with the main villain often failing to be as interesting as the rest of the movie. But this time that mattered a lot more.

There was a comment about how Ethan caring so much about someone he just met. That's sort of always been Ethan's defining characteristic and something we saw last film. He was willing to lose the Cores because he refused to put the mission above Luther's life. Hunley said last film it was a character flaw of Ethan's, that for some reason Ethan is incapable of choosing the mission over even a single life, but that it's also his greatest asset. Similarly Ethan has always puts the lives of others above his own, even those he just met. It's just who he is. Though this film implies that whatever happened in the flashback is why he is that way.

Makes me wish you would do the whole Bond series.

I liked the movie a lot. They are clearly fully leaning into the madness, and I'm here for it. Just fully skipping all the filler.

Kittridge was in the first film. He was the one Ethan met in the aquarium restaurant.
